    Nice!

Possibly a hint at a 90s boxset too? Clutching at straws!

Bowie re-performing MWSTW tracks, et al. in '97 ? Not what I would be hoping to celebrate the 50th anniversary of that classic album.

I enjoyed Nuts but it does sound like the sort of track that was designed for that particular 90's thing where you had a 10 minute gap at the end of an album before a so-called hidden track.

Thank god DB never did succumb to that sort of silliness!!

There was, of course, the hidden track “Truth” featuring Bowie’s vocal on the Goldie album Saturnz Return.

“Nuts” sounds like an Outside vocal with Earthling textures, like a theme song for Bowienet. Not all that essential, but still a fun jog down ‘90s memory lane.

True, although I was thinking in terms of his albums.

  8. “Nuts” isn’t half bad! Not essential, but I could easily see programming it into a rare Bowie CD, as a generally likable track that I wouldn’t mind hearing from time to time.

I’ve always wondered why there were absolutely zero non-LP Earthling b-sides.

I sort of like “Nuts” better than a couple tracks off Outside, truth be told. FWIW, I think the best 60% of Outside is among the BEST work of Bowie’s entire career. And another 20% is merely ‘ok’. But that last 20% is pretty meh, to put it mildly.

So “Nuts” is better than that last (worst) 20% of Outside. It’s definitely not ‘album’-quality material, but it could’ve been a more than decent b-side on some CD single from the era.

The even better news is that the Is It Any Wonder? EP will also be released on 12” vinyl and CD through the Bowie Official Store on Friday 20th March, with the CHANGESNOWBOWIE version of The Man Who Sold The World replaced by Fun (Clownboy Mix). Here's the tracklisting:

    SIDE 1

    Baby Universal ‘97

    Fun (Clownboy Mix)

    Stay ’97

    SIDE 2

    I Can’t Read ’97

    Nuts

The Man Who Sold The World (Live Eno Mix)

So, hang on, is this version of "Fun" one that incorporates elements of "Fame" like the live version, or is it more like the version on liveandwell.com? Doesn't make much sense to call the EP "Is It Any Wonder?" if it's the latter. Press release unclear, surprise surprise. But good to have a CD and good they're opening the vaults a little at last. I know it won't be included, but I hope the fact they're making a big thing of this bodes towards a Black Tie-Hours set like the Let's Dance demo & mix with strings heralded Loving The Alien.

I really hope these releases are an indication of a bigger release based on the 1995-97 period. There's clearly a lot from this period worthy of release.

Whereas his performances from '99 onwards featured largely faithful renditions of his songs, the '95- 97 period showed him in a very experimental mood.

I know someone mentioned a potential deluxe Earthling in this thread but I think there is scope to do an expanded version of Live and Well with CDs and DVDs.

Just off the top of my head this could include:

    50th birthday concert
    95/96 concert
    Acoustic sessions
    Remixes
    New arrangements of old songs
The hour long drum & bass set he played early in the tour

Is there any other online retailer selling this as it doesn't say it exclusive to Bowie store

    It does say exclusive:
"PHYSICAL FORMATS WITH ALTERNATIVE TRACKLISTING TO BE RELEASED VIA DAVIDBOWIE.COM EXCLUSIVELY ON MARCH 20th"

I guess Parlophone primarily want our email addresses for future releases and promotions. The Is It Any Wonder ? water bottle will be the first in an endless line of products per release.

Every time Bowies social media posts something with no context other than "RARE TRACKS RELEASING SOON" I always get the impression they're making a compilation of his album outtakes which were featured during the ryko releases and in the most recent boxes. The its usually not what I was hoping for though I thought Nuts was a neat track which I hadn't heard before. I'd throw a good chunk of money into a nice set where its all of his rare bonus tracks, demos, and outtakes put into one nice compilation.

Official email states the number of copies (not in line with vinyl : cd sales figures in the UK) for the physical release:
"There will only be 10,000 copies of the EP produced (6K vinyl, 4K CD)"

I'm on a Bowie CD buying spree this year so have pre-ordered. 4000 copies; if that's worldwide, imagine it will sell out fairly quickly.
