David Crosby to re-record "If I Could Only Remember My Name" with Orchestra

    What a terrible idea. The original cannot be improved by sugar coating it. Pet Sounds wasn’t. Nor will this be.

    $$$ and notoriety....again if someone handles the PR correctly (not to mention the musical arrangements), it could be an event. But do get why you ask, believe me.

    Agree. A poor idea. I love the original and see no need to alter it. The vibe does not need changing.

With the current trends of mainly well-known singers no longer with us, Crosby shouldn't re-record his 1st album with an orchestra but have the original album re-orchestrated by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Taking his familiar and best vocals and adding new background instrumentation. About the only way I could see an entirely newly arranged version of an original album would be to make it a live performance with videos of it included.
