How does the DCC compare to the redbook layer on the hybrid?

I think most people compared the SACD layer to the DCC CD. Consensus was that the while the SACD was more detailed, the DCC was warmer. Don't remember anyone comparing the CD layer.
I'm thrilled with the DCC - no need to move up to SACD.

Ditto! :righton: I haven't heard the SACD.

I enjoy both. I've never compared the Redbook layer on the SACD with the DCC Gold, and don't imagine I ever will.

I do think that the release of the Dylan SACDs has affected the price the DCC Gold will now bring on eBay. A year ago this title was hard to get for under $45. This particular item doesn't have the front page or the slip-case, so is priced accordingly.

Still, under $20 is a fine buy for those who don't own an SACD player. For those that do, I'd go for the SACD. Circuit City had them for $9.99 at their Thanksgiving sale.

    No doubt about that.

I saw one expire on ebay yesterday without a bid. Starting bid was $29.95.

Strangely it had only received 20 or so views as well.

How do people lose booklets, especially with collector-type CDs? I'm amazed by how many CDs I see on eBay with one or both inserts missing. :(

I've been curious as to that one myself. I mean after collecting CD's for nearly 20 years I've only put perhaps a half dozen total scratches between every album that I own from accidental slippage. [Flamesuit on :D]. Lose something? Only if there's a major catastraphy.

Dave, I know some people who are not collectors who put their CDs in booklets and then discard the jewel cases and inserts. They don't want them taking up space, and they figure they won't need them.

Along those lines, I've seen used CDs in jewel cases with back inserts showing two creases running from top to bottom. One crease is about a half-inch from the left edge and the other crease is about a half-inch from the right edge. At first, I wondered, "How in the heck did this happen?!" Then it occurred to me that someone probably put the disc in one of those albums and folded the back insert to fit in one of the square pockets. I've actually seen back inserts with these creases many times. How ridiculous is that?
