And an upcoming residency when they reopen the Uptown in Chicago. I totally get the value proposition of playing stadiums, but this band would be so much better in a smaller theater.
This is EXACTLY what went through my head. I was like, "he's got the date wrong, it can't possibly have come out in 2016.... wait."
I saw more Dead shows by far at the Garden than any other venue. It's a special place, IMO, that usually drew something special out of the band. If I was still in Jersey I'd be all over those shows like syrup on pancakes.
I’d consider 10/31 or 11/1 but I’m booked for Phil & Friends on 11/1 @ Capital Theatre. I do think it’s cool both bands are playing close by on both these nights. Plus I can’t leave work early on Halloween in order to get to the Garden so no chance for the back-to-back nights in any event. I’m sure there be some who pull off 3 nights mixed between the only 2 Dead related bands with original members.
I’d even take an arena show here (although Rosemont and the United Center aren’t great). Wrigley (and other baseball parks) just aren’t good places to hear music.
Wrigley is fun, but it certainly isn't the best in terms of sound. I haven't been to that new WinTrust arena, though I guess it's probably a little smaller. I've heard it's a nice venue though.
I've been to a ton of shows at the Garden (none being the Dead, alas), but I guess I'm just drawn to shows at smaller venues at this point. If the tickets are reasonably priced, we still might go.
Maybe you're iffy because you missed out, on the thing that we had to start? Maybe you had too much too fast?
