We are jumping to covid concerns without any information. I’d say this business decision was made for business reasons. Or Johnny guitar is getting cleaned up from chasing the dragon.

A "business decision" was made to cancel two sold-out shows? Or someone is on drugs? Don't talk to me about jumping to conclusions.

You think booby and co suddenly got pissed about Florida politics and canceled shows?

You think he’s uncomfortable with the guys scanning tickets not being vaxed that he going to walk Wally from 5 million dollar gross?

A business decision means there was a liability or expense that made playing a bad idea. Like a $5,000 fine for each person they refuse entry for not presenting a vax card or negative test. Or they can’t get the staff to run a show safely and securely. Business decisions.

and….ive seen booby fall down while on stage and cancel shows so he could get straight. That was 2013. John has been pretty open about his struggles with drinking and looks very, very high on this last tour.

There is a history of PR and keeping unflattering news suppressed. That video of him falling over was scrubbed from the internet. If we don’t get more specific detail than “logistical issues” it’s not hysterical to be suspicious.

What is hysterical is to think “logistical issues” means they’ve looked at covid rates or are pissed at a political party and canceled two sold out shows a week before they happened.

@Dennis0675 I think Bobby fell during Unbroken Chain, wasn't that it? Please do keep in mind that lots of us, myself included, occasionally disappoint those who count on us.

I just don't understand why you called me out in the first place or why you're now assuming you know what I think. Just say what you want to say and leave me out of it.

    ...

I'll tell you what's in up Hillsborough County though since I just checked. Trends are all going downward but we're at 9.4% testing positivity w/ high community transmission and 60.20% vaccination rate (12+), which is embarrassing, honestly.

I’m not trying to get heavy, just saying people go through stuff and shows get canceled.

Very few shows have ever been canceled, this is the first time there have been logistical issues other than the blizzard of 93.

Don’t be so sensitive, no one is calling you out. This is a conversation on the internet and you are speculating logistic issues are covid cases. It’s ok if I point out that the band has played every show this year while cases were surging and they didn’t cancel. If they were canceling shows because of covid concerns, why wouldn’t they say it?

I know we’re all speculating at this point, but I really think the rehab rumors are pushing the envelope and are not helpful. They’ve still got the North Carolina and Georgia shows on the schedule, the four day gap between what would have been the last Florida show and NC isn’t enough to cover for a rehab stay. Cmon.

We don’t know the truth, I’m just as guilty of speculation as the next guy, but Occams Razor tells me that solely canceling the shows in the only state on the itinerary to lawfully (not just aggressively, lawfully) prohibit vaccine verification points to a more reasonable explanation. My guess is that either the insurance company got spooked or a lawyer figured out that the $5,000 fine per violation had enough teeth behind it to potentially cancel out the revenue.

Maybe we will never know, but unfounded rumors about rehab and drug use seem way off base to me.

    “routing and production logistics”

rehab, governor, covid….it’s all made up until they tell us why. No made up BS is more valid than the other. Do we really think they couldn’t get a truck to deliver the PA and lights?

No, I don’t think a truck to deliver the PA and lights is the actual issue. But I also know that contracts for tours like this can have a lot of clauses about how/why shows can be canceled without triggering all sorts of fines or penalties. I’m imagining the official release was worded this way for a reason and we may never know the official reason. I don’t think any of us know for sure, but I genuinely don’t think it has anything to do with any of them entering rehab.

I’d be shocked if the local crew in FL was unionized. That’s really only a thing in larger northern cities and on the west coast. FL is right to work and has low union density so even if there is a union it’s going to be small, under resourced and without power to cause a show to be cancelled.

I think it’s most likely that the show was cancelled because DeSantis will fine them for requiring proof of vaccine in the pit. It’s obviously something very specific to FL or we’d see other cancellations.

Unless things changed, the place they’re playing in (outside of) Houston is the same one Jason Isbell canceled because the venue wouldn’t do vaccine card/negative test.

Which is the most BS of all as all they had to do then was scrub the pit and the show goes on, as I stated earlier in the thread Maroon5 played there and required vax or neg test NO PROBLEM

I get where you are coming from on this…the history is there, Jerry’s exhausted in 92, Jerry’s not feeling good in Phoenix 94, Jerry’s hand in 95, Bobby not feeling good in 2005(?) but was drinking at the hotel bar all day…. I believe it has more to do with the political climate myself this go but..They are also human just like the rest of us…

Easily half the shows I have got tix to this year have been cancelled. I learned last year never to make any non-refundable arrangements (flights, hotels, etc) to see a show as they are all tentative til they happen.

And there is Vince who was bounced out of rat dog and cut out of reunions without any explanation. Kimock gone after one show in fall 99 with no explanation.

I’m no conspiracy theorists and beloved the most obvious answer is generally the correct one. That would be something pandemic related specific to Florida. That can neither be described as a routing or logistical production issue. Once you start lying, spinning the story or omitting major details the track record isn’t good.

I had tickets for the West Palm Beach show. I was going with a friend who has a son that was working for the local stage crew and was scheduled to work the show. He is in the union and all union members must be vaccinated. Having said that not all the people working the show are unionized (food vendors, etc.).

I also have tickets for Buddy Guy in Fort Lauderdale on 10/28. The venue posted on Facebook that anyone attending the show must be vaccinated or show proof of a negative test.

While I despise DeSantis, I suspect there is more going on here.

And….not a word from the band or it’s members. No mention of any shows being canceled on their website, nothing on any social media accounts which they use frequently. This is “cancel it, don’t talk about it and act like nothing happened.”

as far as I can tell the only information is an email to tickets holders blaming routing issues. I hate to say it and I hope it’s not true but the only reason for keeping this so quit and cryptic is because it is an issue that could cause more cancellations.

last night in Columbus Trey played solo acoustic because his drummer tested positive. Quite a few shows and tours have been canceled for the same reason. I’d say the real reason for this is the most obvious and common, John Mayer caught an STD at a porn shoot.
