I always wondered why Jerry and the boys traveled halfway round the world to play next to the pyramids when they could just have gone south of the border instead...
While trying to find out about the GDs MTV videos, I came across a link to this performance: Mayer solo piano Friend of the Devil
#rp means repost. Hoping that a fall tour is indeed in the works! Would love to see these guys but doubting they'd ever cross the northern border.
They're doing the Verified Fan pre-registration for a presale. I'll attempt to go to both MSG shows - unless they sell out in seconds like 2015.
Show coming to Austin in December, surprised to see $150 tickets for standing! On the fence as of today.
I got my pre-sale code. So two $50 tickets totals up to $150 thanks to the additional $22 per ticket in fees/taxes and the $5 order processing fee . I think I may pass for now and take my chances closer to show day in Dallas. Sucks, because I really want to experience The Beam in person, but it's hard to part with that much coin right now.
yuk thats more than I want to pay. Have not seen any of the "fake Dead" incarnations since The Dead show at Willie's picnic in 2003. That one was kind of a mess, but I do feel semi-obligated to go see them again since they will be in town. Also on the fence.
Extra yuck is that the $150 ticket will likely run up to $175 thanks to the added fees. I get it. I've bought my fair share of pricey tickets over the years. I just don't know about this one.
I got rejected for both Madison Square Garden presales. Weird that I got a Springsteen Broadway code, but not this.
2 tickets for Hartford CT with fees - $350. My wife wants to go too, so we got them as something to enjoy together, but after 30 years of Dead shows, that just seems like too much for a regular ok seat.
I was skeptical about this lineup, but having seen a bunch of clips, I figured I'd at least look into it if they came close enough. But that is an insane price - I saw Garcia with the GD at MSG for $30.00, all fees included; I couldn't see paying more than 5 times that much to see them at the Civic Center with Mayer. I guess that's just the way it is these days, but it's crazy to think about.
Its just the way things are now. I wish tickets cost less, but those days are long gone. I'd still rather pay directly to the artist (even with crazy fees) than overpay a scalper. Higher ticket prices have made face value tickets easier to get. The internet sales mean no standing in lines. Overall, the current system is better and continues to improve.
