This is Deborah Harry’s Diamond Jubilee year and I wondered what could be done for the woman who has everything. Obviously, endless articles and photographs exist, along with record reviews and even an Autobiography or two. The only thing I could come up with is a gallery of the picture sleeves and picture discs that were associated with her 45rpm recordings, either with Blondie or for her solo act. In looking around there are of course pictures of them scattered about, but I couldn’t find any unified presentation of the various images of picture sleeves and picture discs that were issued in different countries, most notably, besides the US, in Japan, the UK, France and Germany. To be clear, this is not going to be a gallery of every single Deborah Harry 45rpm 7” or 12” picture sleeve or disc ever issued. I am limiting it to those official issues that came out around the time of the original recording on Private Stock, Chrysalis/WEA, Geffen and Sire with different picture sleeves. I have not included different original issues with the same picture sleeve, later issues/ remixes and third party issues but others are of course welcome to post them here. I also am giving preference to sleeves in color and that do not duplicate the LP cover. For some bizarre reason occasionally, pedestrian black and white drawings or poor gray scale photos were used. The Netherlands Chrysalis office was a repeat offender here. Most of the pictures are from my own collection. There will be an attribution for the few sourced from elsewhere. Because of the number of different sleeves and picture discs I thought it best to create several threads to cover them all. They are sequenced by year of issue. This initial thread covers the 45s issued for the first two Blondie LPs.
