I've always wondered why USA based sellers tend to charge significantly more for cd shipping on Discogs than on Amazon and eBay.

 

PayPal--yes; Discogs--no.

 

Some 2023 Record Store Day releases have taken a very steep fall. Others have risen inexplicably, imo ... Oh well.

But he crossed my radar a couple of hours ago. He's listed 14,000 items since lunchtime, many scarcities at unbelievably low prices. It's all phony. The sheer audacity and volume of it is amazing.

Discogs sent out an email recently that they are having a lot of these issues at this time.

I've seen a LOT of these since RSD ....I guess the scam is collect as much $$$ as they can for a week & then just Vanish ?

on some accounts there have been wars in the comments sections for people who got stiffed ............

Looking at this persons feedback 2 fake ratings from accounts with zero feedback & a person calling them out .............. Crazy !

 

I wanted to share a followup on the phony seller we identified yesterday.

The good news: his listings are gone, and his profile is blocked.

As @Davidmk5 pointed out, he had received 2 pieces of 'good' feedback to give the account legitimacy.

Since then, another Discogs user must've seen the problem we've seen: he left a negative feedback warning on the seller's profile:

... and it looks like the seller retaliated. Another "new seller" left four negative feedback ratings this morning, for the "good seller" who left the warning feedback:

I hope Discogs gets this figured out soon. I enjoy the site, as both a buyer and as a seller.

They're shipping is too high for me.

 

This is an RSD 2015 release with a hype sticker of 'Lacquers cut by Chris Bellman' that has been blown out for under $15 for a while - compares really well with a first press, which goes for quite a bit more: Blue Mountain Eagle - Blue Mountain Eagle

 

Yes, very annoying.
I think this is to try to tamp down the tendency of some sellers to profit on shipping costs, and also use this as a tactic to avoid fees.
So, the rest of us also get penalized for this kind of BS.

 

Easy solution: ebay charges sellers a % of shipping.

 

Beautiful World Syndicate (aka "philadelphiamusic") is clearing out their inventory, taking 50% off of 3,857 of their listed items, and if they don't sell by September 20, they will be deleted altogether. Many of these are only $1.00, even more still under $2.00, with plenty of pop, rock, classical and jazz (particularly older jazz issued overseas - I saw some titles from the great Scottish label Hep).

I bought from them once and chose store pickup since I was going to be in the city. Their grading is .... "generous." I didn't inspect the items before leaving and I regret that. A VG+ CD had a crack in the inner hub. Buyer beware.

 

I've bought from them more than any other discogs seller (probably 100+ items by now), and I've never had any condition issues (so far!)

 

Perhaps I just got unlucky. Their Discogs seller rating is very good.

Redscroll have a 30% sale on their used CDs at the moment, some good stuff in there (MFSL, Japanese imports, Mosaic boxes). I picked up the 27CD Vinicius de Moraes box set for $24.

I'd imagine that's to tempt you to order more, as it looks like most additional used CDs don't incur any additional shipping (unless it's a box set). But that's not much use if you only want one thing, of course.
