An outtake from Pacific Ocean Blue, I like it better than What’s Wrong - it rocks more - and the instrumental section/tag is nice but sounds unfinished - needs a guitar solo or sax or something. I use it in place of What’s Wrong on POB. 4/5.

I'll defend "Got To Know the Woman", but not this. 3/5, 5/10. Thankfully, the sessions get better.

This thread got me to revisit the Denny albums for the first time in way too long. I love everything about this material. I'm not able to get in to vote every day but I give the whole set of outtakes a 4/5 with some surefire 5's like Holy Man, Tug Of Love, Mexico, Love Remember Me and Common. The "what could have been" component is frustrating as ever but hey, that's post '73 Beach Boys ain't it?

Appreciate that lyrically these paeans to teen girls by grown men are dated but I like School Girl. Dennis had SC, Brian had Lazy Lizzie. Another one where I'd go 7/10. I'll bump it to a mild, 4/5.

Dennis’ voice is really rough here.

But this is a powerfully emotional piece of music. 5/5

The second “chorale” part was started in 71-72 with the solo sessions with Daryl if I remember correctly. This is a masterpiece on the same level as River Song IMO. His last, unfortunately, although we still have some excellent songs to come. 5/5 ++.

Love Remember Me stood out as one of the best outtakes immediately on 1st listen of the Pacific Ocean Blue reissue.

Yes, one of the best of the outtakes bunch. 5/5, 9/10. The horns remind me of late period Beatles.

Whoa! You guys really love this and me? I can't seem to wrap my arms around this at all. It's like several dirge-like other tunes that latter day Dennis seems to be at his most comfortable. Yes, he pours out his feelings of love and being in love but it's all a bit over the top in the feel good department and his unintelligible vocals also detracts from whatever message he's trying to deliver to us. Can't go more than 3/5 and that's because I love him.

LRM - another one of those examples of a Dennis song that appears to be two separate pieces tacked on together. The vocal on the first part is pretty mealy-mouthed and keeps it from a 5 for me but I love the chorale/concluding part, which has appeared on bootlegs, without the opening part. 4/5

I really like Wild Situation. Another one of those "cock rockers", as Lance would say :D Nice slinky groove, some interesting musical touches, and, most importantly, some great Beach Boy-esque backing vocals. Probably could use a bridge. 4/5

I like this a lot - but I'm a sucker for Dennis mid-tempo rockers. Nice Beach Boys style harmonies on the verses, female backing vocals on the chorus/tag, like the little burst of harmonica at 0:56!, lyrics reflecting Dennis's wild lifestyle. I'm going for 4/5.
