"Wild Situation" - in this configuration 3/5, 6/10. I believe the song had real promise, but definitely needs some work. The Beach Boys could have done a great version. I picture a Mike lead vocal. They passed up another situation. It was their way at the time.

I like this as the end of Morning Christmas. There, a clear 5+
    Here, as it is, 3

    Clearly unfinished. Clearly brilliant.4/5

The beginning sounds a bit like “Lines”

That drum fill at around 1.55 reminds me of 'In the Air tonight' (!) - in fact the drums on this track - and many others in these sessions - kind of remind me of those early 80s more processed and compressed drums, sort of the type Peter Gabriel might have had, or in fact from Bowie's 'Low' or even 'Beach Boys Love You' itself.

There is a brief riff from "Steamboat" embedded in the melody of "Morning Christmas", too.

Have to agree. This sounds more like "Lines" than it does "Morning Christmas", though I do hear what Ed is on to, as well.

I'm going with a 4/5, 8/10. It is enough of its own original song to rate that high.

The beginning chords sound like Carl's Tones! And add in a touch of Love to Say Dada it does sound Smile-ish. It's great but somewhat skeletal. with some overdubs and vocals, even just backing vocals, this would be amazing. As is, 3/5.

One of the "101 Greatest Drumming Moments" then, eh?:targettiphat: Sounds too close from 1:55 thru 3:02 to be a coincidence. Who knows. 1980/'81 is too early for it to be found on a bootleg.

Common. Unlike Mexico or Holy Man, I don’t think it stands in its own, as an instrumental.

    Interesting percussion.

    3/5

I went off to listen to your comments. Does sound a bit like "Tones". "Common" Inspirations are Everywhere.

Pleasant instrumental indeed. It sounds fine as is but I'm sure that there are lyrics laying around somewhere. 4/5

Grandiose and emotive with that terrific build up and dramatic ending, but it seems to be lacking something in the lyrics. 4

I agree the lyrics lack something, but the song is still awesome for me, I love that end section. Truly thrilling rock. 5/5

This is the song I use to end side 1 of my track order for Bambu - I like how it suddenly cuts off at the end. Dramatic, dynamic track, a beautiful melody (though Dennis's vocal is not his best, definitely strained), love the middle 8 at 1:00. The end/tag reminds me of some prog band - Yes? Trans-Siberian Orchestra? 5/5.

AYR. Can't say that this one ever resonated with me. Listening today, it is very prog-ish but I do like the sudden stop, which is a neat touch. 3/5

Don't have anything to add. I too love the second half rock-out. 4/5, 7/10.

I like the music but the vocals are often tough here, especially in the first section. It's a better song than the title suggests. 3
