America did a version of Simon and Garfunkel's 'America' on their My Back Pages covers album.
The 1975 for the win with this type of thing. The opening track on each of their four albums to date is called 'The 1975' and the advance track listing for their fifth suggests they're not going to change that.

They haven't aged well - not that the bar was all that high to start with.

Must be "Doop" who I never heard of until now, but it fits.

Edit: I now discover they also recorded under the name "Hocus Pocus", responsible for that... that THING, called "Here's Johnny."

 

Never heard 'Here's Johnny', do vaguely recall 'Doop' by Doop, would need to play it again though.

I was subjected to it many times at the gym, along with the video, one of those "Hey, look what we can do with computer technology" videos. I'm not sure which was worse, the "song" or the video.

It would have been good in one of those games featuring linked albums, to put Doop alongside Focus.

 

I've been away for a month, but I thought I'd test myself on the photos. I managed to snag 4 Bad Company (I always recognize Paul Rodgers for some reason), 13 Fairground Attraction (somehow recognized Eddi Reader then had to look up the band name which I had forgotten), 32 Sailor (a "gimme") and 39 Tin Machine (the small Bowie pic did not escape my notice)
