The guy on the right in 5 looks like Falk-U Rogner from Amon Düül II but I don't recognize the other guy, but I'll guess Amon Düül II anyway.
it is really weird , because I have had some of these clippings for over 40 years and some I recognized immediately (like the John Paul Jones on the bouncy ball ) ,others I am not sure myself but luckily I wrote the names on the back (but not on all of them) # 5 was easy for me since it is the first picture I ever saw of this band , which might not help you very much but perhaps the fact that they are named after a western novel
no worries - I have just realized that post soften appear at the same time and you hadn't seen my confirmation yet - my bad ...sorry
a little surprisde that # 8 has not been recognized yet - one of the best in studio live performances I have ever seen , was on German TV but I am pretty sure it is available on youtube/dvd now , 8 piece band , 2 albums ,early 70's,US
Is 8 Manassas? I've never heard Manassas or ever heard them talked about by anyone in my entire life to be honest!
then you are mixing with the wrong people I am afraid # I will try and find a youtube clip from this performance- I was 12 at the time I first saw and really impressed
Interesting clue/hint. I'll assume that #8 is probably from an NDR Jazz Workshop show, but no idea who it is. I have some stuff from Weather Report, John Surman and Soft Machine from that show and on each of them they have various British/European players sitting in, but the only one of those that's from the US is Weather Report and it neither looks like them nor did they only put out 2 records.
of course , this photo has been lying on my printer for weeks and I don't want to put it away because like looking at it
Well, no-one talks about Manassas any more, except maybe on this forum, but their first album is really good. Isn't it A-Bout Time you heard Manassas? (Manassas in-joke)
which reminds me there is also a brilliant Musikladen performance of Eric Burdon **War from around the same time #8 is Manassas
