These are all worth watching. They were all great. Happy that they could reunite Amy & Rory and Bill & Nardole. I didn't expect that end to the red-balloon-girl story either. Favourite was perhaps the Novice Hame clip. Missed opportunity; where was Capt Jack? I'm sure Barrowman would have been up for something. Yes that was my point that the actors were sometimes let down by writers and directors but I didn't have a major problem with the actor per se. There are a number of McCoy episodes which are relatively straightforward and I think he is fine in them. Even Tom Baker had some clunker episodes. A TV series will always be erratic and you just have to concentrate on the top half of the programs if you are bothered by these issues.
Continuing playing through the episodes that NETFLIX have. Got to 2013's 'Hide' earlier. One bit of dialogue I'd forgotten about had me spitting coffee . Dr: "Ignorance is....erm…. What's the opposite of bliss?" Clara: "Carlisle?" Dr: "Yes. Yes, Carlisle. Ignorance is Carlisle".
My favourite Classic Who Doctors is the 5th Doctor (Peter Davison). My favourite New Who Doctor is the 10th Doctor (David Tennant). My favourite companions are Tegan and Graham. My favourite episodes are (in no order) The Talons Of Weng-Chiang, The Daemons, The Girl in the Fireplace, Resurrection of the Daleks, Warriors' Gate. My favourite season in Classic Who is Season 21. My favourite season in New Who is Season 1. My favourite monsters/villains are the Draconians.

...…….and another Billie Piper series to look forward to. Who stars in Billie Piper's Sky show I Hate Suzie? Your guide to the cast and characters
Two lost Doctor Who stories from the 1960s being revived for fans as cartoons Don't we have a missing episodes thread? I can't find it.
Thought I’d pop into this thread as I’m currently mid-binge of the “New Who” series. I grew up watching Who with Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy, but never gave the new series a shot until lockdown started and I realised all the episodes were on the iPlayer - very quickly got hooked! Last night we started series 8 (I think?) - the first Capaldi episode. Enjoyed it more than I expected to - I love Capaldi as Malcolm Tucker but wasn’t quite sure how he’d work as the Doctor. Mind you, every doctor so far we’ve been “oh no, it’s not the same” but warmed up a lot over time and then been sad to see them go. Anyway, just thought I’d pop in and say that I’d call myself a fan at this point. (Still haven’t gone back to any classic Who though - I’d like to revisit some stuff from my 3 childhood doctors but suspect they might all end up seeming unspeakably cheesy these days...)
All the classic episodes are on Britbox if you’re interested in watching them after you finish New Who.
As I mentioned earlier in the thread, my favourite Doctors have been Troughton, Smith and Davidson. Even wearing heavily-rimmed nostalgia glasses the ‘classic’ series can’t hold a candle to the revamp. The first Capaldi series where he was wearing the character in is particularly enjoyable. I had doubts about the first Jodie W series as I felt they were trying too hard to ensure we were all embracing the showrunner’s ‘diversity’ stance. Felt I was being preached to. It rankled. Happily, a couple of watches of that series down the line, I enjoy them a lot more.
Ah....they probably don't have them in America. It's short for 'university'. That's an educational facility where the more intelligent young people go for advanced learning when they leave school. Very popular places over here.
I have never really got back into the series since Tennant and RTD left, however my favourite Doctors are: Hartnell - a superb actor who brought some real grit, gravitas and grandfatherliness at times. Pertwee - a really enjoyable performer. Davison - possibly the subtlest actor who has ever played the role. Eccleston - he really made the resurrection work Tennant - probably the best ever - he loved the role. Hurt - bit of a cheat, but he was one of the greatest actors since the birth of film.
No, it's just that we don't use juvenile cutesy names for serious institutes of learning; we can actually use five-syllable words without tripping over ourselves. Harvard Uni indeed.....
That new special was so bad. Worse than I remember the last series being. The plot, script, acting, direction...all terrible. It almost transcends criticism by being so bad, the bad things would stand out more in a better episode but when it's all so bad you are lost to know where to start really.
Enjoyed it. Thought the idea of Dalek-drones a good one. Glad to see the back of the young lad, but I will miss Bradders. Pleased Gwen Cooper got a mention too.
