I absolutely love MMT but agree that it is a compilation album and thus should probably be held to a different standard. Also, strongly in the "Fool on the Hill" is a great song camp.

I love both MMT and Sgt. Pepper, but MMT was the first Beatle album I ever owned (birthday present in Dec. 1967), so I love it just a little more.

Yes, definitely. In general, I'm not as completely anti with regards to the US versions of the album as many, but here I think it's undeniable that Capitol created something spectacular with the MMT LP. Absolutely love it.

Love them both. I do like Pepper in either mono or stereo, however, don't care for the mono MMT because Blue Jay Way is much trippier in stereo.
Psychedelic Beatles are my favorite Beatles.

The are both in my top twenty albums of all time (as is The Beatles); I rank Pepper slightly higher.

……you probably know that across the pond MMT was a double EP featuring (I think) side 1 of the album…..

MMT is nothing like the cultural-historical event Pepper was…..

Neither is a favourite, Revolver and the White are much stronger IMHO…..

Would have to give it to Pepper myself cos of Day In The Life…….

I have mixed feelings about the US albums, and I mostly prefer the UK configuration for the most part, but MMT was a genius move, and it was also necessary IMHO. The American Rubber Soul flows really well as a folk-rock album and Meet The Beatles! is a better introduction to the band than Please Please Me & With The Beatles combined. Trying to be fair here.

Completely agree, I love this little jam. I love nearly all the piano work on this album and the White Album. The weird little ditties on Rev 9 are great for example.

To me, MMT is part two of Pepper in terms of songwriting and production. I see no reason to pit them against each other.

Sounds like the Sgt Pepper inner groove...

It’s close. My favorite Beatles song is “I Am The Walrus”, and there’s Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane to boot

But Peppers works great as an album-length piece of music

    I could go either way

Just asking which the respondent enjoys listening to the most, not really saying one is better than the other. SPLHCB is for me clearly a more important work, more consistent, and of course influential may be an understatement, but I enjoy listening to MMT more.

I agree with everything you've said. The Beatles Second Album is also a thing of wonder.

Sgt. Pepper made the biggest splash, but Revolver dethroned it as the Beatles' strongest album years ago.

Be careful claiming that around here, there is a significant group of people that vindicate Rubber Soul and are pretty hostile to Revolver lovers...:D

I find the 'weaker' tracks on Pepper's better; even Lovely Rita outdoes Blue Jay Way, 'Flying' is amusing, but it just add tos to the soundtrack...

Of course not. Why? Well, because MMT is one of those capitol compilations and Sgt. is an album made by the Beatles.
