My mom has a Philco floor standing radio with a turntable that I have a few questions about. I dont have a model number or anything, but it is about 3 feet tall and has a selector nob for BC, FM, or phono. It doesnt work, but it does make a humming sound when we turn it on. My guess is that it has blown a tube. Does anyone know where I can get tubes for this thing. I will go out to her house and get a better look at it and let you guys know some more info.

I know enough to be dangerous ... but not enough to fix them ... I think "humming" can usually be attributed to bad capacitors (I am sure someone will correct me if I have mis-spoken) ... depending on where your mother lives, there is probably someone around who fools with old tube radios ... finding them can be a challenge sometimes :) ... most large cities have clubs with people who can fix them ... tubes and capacitors are pretty easy to find on the Internet ...

Yup, sounds like bad caps to me! Same thing my RCA 45 player did, until I replaced the caps.
