About 250 DVDs, give or take... (That's counting box sets as one title-I didn't count each disc from each set as a separate disc.)

Grand total of 2 Blu-Rays (Used the same criteria for counting Blu-Rays as the DVDs.)

Black Friday sales had several 4K discs in the $7-10 range.

  7. And now we come to Australia where it seems about 50-ish% of BluRay titles are not released.

Latest TV series? Only if it is not a comedy (apart from "The Big Bang Theory").

Old movies? Did it win an Oscar? No? And it isn't "The Wizard Of Oz"? Then it's probably not available. Especially if it was released prior to 1984. Again, there are exceptions: James Bond, "Jaws", a few Disney movies and, strangely, a few horror movies (thanks to indie DVD company Umbrella).

How about old TV shows? If it isn't "Thunderbirds" then the answer is "Are you joking?".

I buy DVD's. I import some BluRays. I have no interest in 4K because my eyesight deteriorated a fair bit several months ago. Now, maybe I am looking in the wrong shops for titles. But if it isn't in JB HiFi or EzyDVD then I'm pretty much out of options.

Some recent DVD purchases: Advise and Consent (1962); Reflections in a Golden Eye (1967)
Neither has a U.S. Blu-ray release. Both look very good upscaled. Oddly, Warner released Reflections on Blu-ray in France!

Horror movies do well because that audience is VERY loyal and puts it's money where it counts. Definitely the genre where the most "f-list" titles are getting released.

I've found a lot of great TV shows (mainly older shows) on DVD, and I have been purchasing quite a few of them.

    Scooby Doo, Where Are You?
The Huckleberry Hound Show, Volume 1
    The Yogi Bear Show
    Galtar and the Golden Lance
    Sky Commanders
    The Pirates of Dark Water
    G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero (Sunbow/Marvel 80s classic)
    The Transformers (Sunbow/Marvel 80s classic)
    Mighty Orbots
    War Planets (aka Shadow Raiders)
    Digimon (S1, S2, S3)
    Monster Rancher (S1, S2, S3)
    Cybersix
    Blackstar
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (Filmation 80s classic)
    ThunderCats (80s classic)
    Voltron (80s classic)
Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
    Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers

    ...and more...

And good live-action series on DVD:

The Avengers (The Emma Peel eps)
Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future
    Tales from the Crypt
    Super Force
    Tales from the Darkside
    Friday the 13th: The Series
(Classic) Doctor Who (some First Doctor - Hartnell), lots of Third Doctor - Pertwee and lots of Fourth Doctor - Baker)
    Star Trek: The Next Generation
    Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
    Game of Thrones
    Babylon 5

    ...and more...

Goodwill sells the heck out of DVDs, but as for me, it has to be Blu-ray on sale, not going for 4K Dolby Vision, until they get their pricing right, so it's Blu-ray for me.

I still buy DVD's too, they upscale to 1080 so for most movies I'm happy with that.
