Cool! She can add this to her other 3,000 songs, which makes her the most prolific songwriter of our lifetime. Not Dylan. Not McCartney. Dolly Parton.
Just the idea she told the RRHOF to go find some real rock and roller made me fall in love with her all over again. They would do well to heed those words. jb
Dolly Parton and the Rolling Stones. I am so up for this. Either way, whether it's an album with many different collaborations, or a full album with the Stones, count me in completely. I hope the Stones feel honored. Frankly, i'd love to hear Dolly sing tons of rock stuff, with tasteful backing by great bands it could be an incredible record. This is just an all around exciting idea.
In reality, it would be Dolly Parton backed by Keith Richards and Ron Wood, and others pros. Dolly wouldn't necessarily need Jagger since she already sings, and of course there will be no Charlie Watts (RIP) or Bill Wyman.
She could find plenty of Stones songs that could work for her. Maybe Keith’s “The Worst”or maybe “Say It’s Not You” that Keith did with George Jones. And judging from her recent work she still has a strong voice.
That is correct. I was trying to keep it rock and roll. When I think Dolly Parton and Mick Jagger duet, I think pop schmaltz, not rock and roll. But no matter, I have no stake in the game.

And when you think about it Keith doesn't really play anymore. He moves around on stage and plays a tiny bit here and there, so I can't imagine he would do a whole lot in a session with Dolly. Ronnie can still play. It would be Ronnie on guitar and a bunch of session players. Maybe Mick on backup vocals.
Can't imagine the sound they'd have together. Mick on backing vocals then!? But we'll see if it happens...
Would love to hear Dolly do "Wild Horses". And she and Mick vamping it up to "Honky Tonk Women"? Yes please. Just to say I saw it happen.
