I had it in my basket at Juno. Even before I had finished the checkout procedure, it vanished! Completely gone from their website now.

I had an email notification from Juno as requested but nothing worked when I tried to use the link to put it in my basket - perhaps they got one copy!

Happened to me too. Now copies are appearing on Discogs and eBay for £375 - £400.

Piss-poor management of the release, and has put me right off Jazzman as a label.

A labor of love release for this label's principle, without question. It required plenty of bread (and time) up front to see this project through and I don't think that he (Mr. Jazzman Gerald) really could have anticipated in his wildest dreams just what a frenzied sensation and immediate sellout this reissue set would come to be. Sure, online notifications about availability of this set to wanting customers seems to have definitely been bolloxed up (leaving many people to be disappointed and some to be irate) but this is certainly a label still worthy of support.

For the time being, I do not have the most positive feelings towards this label. No respect whatsoever for their customers. They produced and released a product that is becoming elusive technically. Not even a reasonable chance for everybody interested to get a copy. Why should we support? I support Mosaic. And the Grateful Dead. Not even once disappointed. There is enough stress around. Pity.

I'm fairly philosophical about this stuff.... I sure would have liked to get my hands on this set, but good luck to Jazzman as I'm pretty sure he never set out to sell fewer than he thought he could.

Maybe I'll still find a set somewhere! Who knows! In a world where everything is available 24/7, its like a trip back in time!

I emailed Juno upfront and they told me, they would get 10 copies... and I'm a lucky one and also a friend got one...

Certainly there allready more than a few sold through discogs, we will probably see this next month... it always take some time before you can see any changes in the discogs statistics.

I think the pair of you need to have a reality check.

If you’re complaining about not getting your new toy, because Jazzman played it safe with numbers, you really don’t deserve anything nice in the first place.

They are a small operation, and the 1000 copies would probably have cost him around £30,000 upfront.

It would have been an unaffordable risk to say ‘sod it, I’ll put twice that into stock’.

We should all be thankful and respectful of labels doing projects like this, and realisethat you can’t always get what you want.

The copy in the US that was up on the 'scogs for five hundred clams disappeared from the listings in a day's time; presumably "sold." It will take up to a few weeks or a month to see updated stats for that item on that site.

There are many limited releases that I'll never get simply because I can't keep up with everything. I'm okay with that. If the music is worth hearing, I'll get it on some format assuming it's available and not fret too much over the "limited" set I didn't get. Hopefully the label will make more or release these individually for the people that want them. If not, I'll be content with the hi-rez until something better comes along.

Just to add that people need to see it as Gerald having to pay for 5,000 LPs to be manufactured and for a label like Jazzman that's the equivalent of financing five individual album releases in one go, a huge cost burden, though I still hope they will repress or at least do individual releases once the dust settles and payments come in, someone needs to and Gerald's the one whose put all the work in, plus he's done a great job underestimating demand aside.

The only people at fault in my opinion are the ones buying then selling for huge profit straight away. It does not exactly seem right to when the product has just been pressed and released. The frustrated folks are probably just genuine jazz dudes that unfortunately for what ever reason miss on a box they would probably buy and keep.

I've no doubt that the release was very expensive to do. Perhaps they underestimated demand a little but that's okay. All they have to do is crowdfund the repress and see if the demand is really there to press more, assuming the license is there to do it. Let people pre-pay and put their money where their mouth is. I'm generally not a fan of preorders but for something like this it make sense. If he had made too many it could've easily sunk his little label.

The best thing to do in this case is not to feed the flippers. I won't do it. People can stream or buy the download until the repress happens.

One of the most annoying things about the modern world is the way some people speculate in products that have a limited release, as a soundtrack collector I can tell you how insane it is that some versions of titles sell out in hours only for many of them to appear on Discogs at even more inflated prices, a game I won't play and hopefully something that won't infect Jazz. I do know someone who has ended up with a spare copy, because he wanted to make sure he got one, not sure what he's doing with it, but he hasn't rushed to Discogs, I'd guess he's not the only person who ordered from different shops to ensure a copy, hell I might have if I had the spare cash to tie up.

As soon as Universal get a sniff of the cash they will do a repress but it won’t be up to the Jazzman standards. Jazzman won’t get a look in.

I don't know Gerald, but hopefully someone who does could find out if there is any chance of him doing a repress, boxed or individually, even if it wasn't for a few months it would stop people feeding the flippers.

I did wonder that, but by all accounts they aren't very on the ball when it comes to British Jazz and even a couple of thousand units per title might not interest them, hell they haven't even released CD versions though if Gerald isn't planning a repress Universal might be the best hope.

I've just been given the option to license something from Universal because their catalogue department rejected it because they thought it would sell about 2500 copies.
I think they own so much catalogue that they need to sell far more than a specialist to justify something like this.
I would also guess that after Jazzman have done this, they wouldn't want to risk low sales - I suspect there is less than another 1000 sales in this anyway - so there is no chance that they will do this.
