I happen to still have two sealed LP's. Doors "LA Woman" and Kiss "Double Platinum. I'm selling off a bunch of my small collection of records. Am I better off selling these as "sealed collectibles" or open them up to check the condition of the records.

The Doors LP still has the sales tag from the May Co. Date of 8/18/71 and cost $5.39. Inflation factor is $36.41!

I don't know what to do; rip 'em open or sell them as is?

Without any shadow of a doubt: DO NOT OPEN THEM. Sell them sealed, as is. Keep the stickers intact.

Kiss won't fetch as much but keep it sealed as well. I can't see the photo but does the mirror sleeve have ringwear or is it in great shape?

The Kiss pic doesn't show up for some reason.

Does the Double Platinum have a hype sticker? Is there a barcode?

Sealed but list it as no returns for sealed items and buyer beware.

Keep them sealed. They are collectibles; once you open them they are no longer collectibles. Just another player copy albeit in NM- condiotion.

On the flip-side as a buyer, buy sealed vintage albums for collectibility only. Don’t bother if you want a player copy.

Yup, there are plenty of solid audiophile reissues of that Doors album, including some by our host. There's absolutely no reason to ever crack that open to play it--unless you want to demonstrate how easy it is to shave hundreds of dollars off the value of an LP in one quick movement.

Again: Don't Open it. But it doesn't have the hype sticker on the shrink, so it's not as desirable. But will still get somewhere in the $50-125 range, probably.

I got $285 for a SS copy of Double Platinum with sticker. So I would expect 1/2 that for this copy, on a good day.
