We have no idea yet whether the unique single mixes are included are not. I think that I'll reserve my outrage until we get more information. On the surface, assuming that the correct mixes were used, this looks like a great collection.
Quick cover art=Quick cash. Goofy color scheme. The photos are a collage of outtakes from the Henry Diltz December 1969 photoshoot on Venice Beach for the Morrison Hotel cover. Jim is notoriously bloated from alcohol in those pictures, and is sporting the remnants of infamous haircut he gave himself prior to the Toronto festival a few months earlier.
Yep. The original single has Ray doing a count-in, and a short outro with him noodling around on the piano before saying "Okay, that's it, I've got it." Also- the original single "We Could Be So Good Together" is different from (and preferable to) the album versions. I think.
This looks great. It's just that, given the history of mistakes and cock-ups, I'm not pre-ordering. When it comes out, and it turns out my concerns were baseless, I will GLADLY place an order. Because this is something that I've genuinely wanted for a while. The tracklisting meets my highest expectations. Please please PLEASE let this be all right all right ALL RIGHT. Are you sure about that? I have in my info just the opposite, that the count in is only on the Perception mix. (The outro being on both mixes) and that the Perception remix was used on the new Weird Scenes set. The quad mix isn't even that good...
Well it's still the the old songs in mono or what have you How about some outakes or something no one has heard before
Based on what??? I have not seen anything that specifically states this. I'm interested to know where you got this info. It seems odd to me that they only indicated mono mix on a select few of the tracks. It seems to me that they would have indicated mono on others as well.
Maybe there will be more details in tomorrow's press release. In a nutshell, all the singles up to "Hello, I Love You" are mono. Beyond that, only "You Make Me Real/Roadhouse Blues" and "The Mosquito" are mono. The rest are stereo. Don't trust the metadata that flows through to Amazon.
I don't know about this "singles" comp. I have the feeling I'll listen to it once or twice and then file it. I might cherry-pick a few of the versions for my own comps, though.
The despised cover art has been removed fom all the Amazon listings. Nothing new up yet, but I hope that was just a placeholder and the real cover will be better.
Well, now I'm not so sure. I still have the single but can't access my turntable at the moment. I'll try to check it soon and will report back. For me, the single version of "Touch Me" in decent fidelity is worth the cost of the set.
