Yes, as well as being included as 'bonus tracks' on the corresponding 2007 album reissues (40th Anniversary remix discs)
Yes, I am on board for this one. Let's hope they use the historic mixes and mastered well. If this be the case, then this may be the best release they've done in a while. I love SINGLE MIXES!
Has anyone else noticed a GLARING inconsistency this release has with previous releases? Maybe with Ray's passing things have changed? I note the general enthusiasm for the single mixes (in reality many are simply 'edits' though) but surely the fact that half of disc 2 is taken up with post-Morrison era songs, can't have escaped everybody's attention? To pitch so much post-Morrison material next to the 'core catalogue' in a single release is, as far as I'm aware, unprecedented?
I noticed that, also. It's a positive development as far as I'm concerned. Love it or hate it, the post-Morrison material is part of the overall story and should be treated as such.
A few years back I remember Steve (our host) mentioning this project and his possible involvement IIRC. Curious if he's involved with this release?
I'm a fan of the post-Morrison era, so I don't mind the inclusion of those songs. But, I'm not sure it's any attempt to pitch or highlight that Other Voices/Full Circle material; I think it has more to do with volume. They need those songs to fill the two CD's.
I'll speculate that the non-Jim tracks were included due to timing / length of the Jim vocal tracks. The Jim tracks on disc 2 are what, about 20 minutes of material so there was a lot of space left. I'm glad they used it up, and it seems appropriate for the non-Jim singles to be included as - like it or not - they were still The Doors. Looks like a great set, I'm in for the Blu-ray edition.
..."The Doors were in talk and started the production of the possibality of completing an All compete 50th anniversary of the Doors career by gathering all single releases & their b-sides both mono/stereo and releasing them in a boxset many years ago. The first product was made available to the large masses of what was most interested/represented was in a scienctificate theory of posionious warcare.members of the Grateful Dead The seed has now begun to ripen on All sides of reality. Answering cool & calm spirits offer its fruit/harvest I think old and new Doors fans alike will be more than happy adding this release to any Doors fan collection, but I must stress and confide with the forum that not only I but many long term doors fans/from hard core to the newest fan base including but not limited to the staff and it's inner circle of trust of the 'Legacy' / staff etc."
"You Need Meat" - The 45 does have the count-in and "Ok, that's got it" at the end. I just checked it.
I can't find any evidence that "The End" was released as a single in the US. However, it was released in several European countries and Japan in 1979/80, as a 4:15 edited version. As a tie in with "Apocalypse Now" as featured on the 45 picture sleeve...
From our friends at IMWAN, the original 20 singles A's and B's were this: --4 mono --4 mono edited --2 mono different mixes --2 mono different mixes edited --1 mono different mix longer --10 stereo (assuming regular LP versions) --8 stereo edited --1 stereo longer --2 stereo different mixes --3 stereo different mixes edited --3 stereo non-LP b-sides
...my reply on the single release , is what was every single release recorded/releases in our country...
15 years ago I started collecting the original Doors singles from local shops, record shows and eBay. I was able to create a two-disc compilation using everything I found. One of the odd things I discovered is "Tell All The People"/"Easy Ride" in both mono and single formats. The mono copy is not labeled for radio so I used the stereo mixes in my comp but included the mono versions as bonus tracks. Here is my collection from the original vinyl. Thanks to Ed Bishop for some of the chart info. Unknown Soldier is mono on 45 and the ending is slightly different. I think some of the crowd effects are not there. It has also been said that a different gun shot was used but I never compared it to the stereo mix. DISC ONE 1. Break On Through (To the Other Side) 2.
