She seemed to live a very fulfilling and enviable life.

Thanks for all those wonderful old movies, Doris, and thanks for being an animal lover.

How sad. A real star. I can't claim to be an expert on her but I like her Day By Day album and other tracks like Move Over Darling, Sentimental Journey etc. I also enjoyed the BBC Four documentary about her. She seems to have been a good woman.

Although Doris Day seemed to having a long and fulfilling life, it's sad when big stars from a bygone era go. We'll never see the like again. RIP Doris Day. An exceptionally talented singer and actress.

    This is very sad news!!!!

On a side note, my name is Rock and my wife's name is Doris. So in the big cosmic picture of existence Rock and Doris still live!!!!

just read this. sad, but she lived quite the life.

i remember when columbia was trying to market her son terry as a "brand new day" and later my pop was for a brief time her publicist for one of her last TV series. this is a sad day indeed.

    R.I.P. Doris Day.

  11. I liked how she stood by Rock Hudson's side and supported him when he publicly announced he had AIDs. I real class act. RIP.

An awesome singer and front singer lady anyway. I snubbed her for decades before hearing one of her late 50s albums and finally seeing the light.

She had a beautiful voice but I’m more familiar with her movie roles opposite Rock Hudson. They were lovely together. Her iconic status was further cemented by Grease.

According to the article linked by the OP she wanted no memorial service or gravesite.

    RIP

She had a long innings..... 97 years young..... It is sad when anyone dies, but she had a long an eventful life. And after her movie career she gave a lot to Animal Welfare

If anyone wants to make a difference in her name, donate to the Doris Day Animal Foundation, no matter how small, it makes a huge difference to the animals. It's what she would have wanted.

I'll raise a glass to her, and thank her for her life, and her work
