Dracula - S1 - Episode 1: The Rules of the Beast

Just watched the first installment - very good! Beautifully art directed and shot with a great script by Stephen Moffat and Mark Gatiss (with a welcome note of dark humour). Looking forward to the next episode tomorrow night.

Looks pretty good to me, but I won't be watching until it comes to Netflix Jan 4.

    Thanks for the heads-up!

I'm always up for another take on the character. There's definitely some shots that look like they're going for an almost Hammer/Christopher Lee-esque vibe which if they can pull it off, would be great. The only thing that looks a bit goofy is the double fang prosthetics.

Some good bits; some that were downright awful.

I watched it last night. It looked good. There were a couple of annoying modern editing & CGI bits but not to many.
What I didn't like was the world weary nun. It seemed out of character.
The worst part though was old Dracula himself, he seemed to evolve from an ancient Transilvanian eccentric
into a wise cracking English stand up comedian / TV presenter.

Anyone who remembers Rob Newman’s Jarvis character from the 1990s will probably find the Count very familiar.

I did enjoy Gatiss' adaptation of Martin's Close, the M R James story - much better than his last one and pretty faithful to the original.

Thought the second episode was more effective and I'm looking forward to the third.

Episode 2 was very good. An Improvement on the first one. A bit of twist at the end as well.

    A helluva twist!
Episode two is a claustrophobic re-imagining of the voyage of the Demeter. I found it a little draggy to be honest but the ending has me primed for the conclusion tonight!

Jeez, was looking forward to it, but than read that he might be sharing a universe with Dr. Who! That immediately made me think 'crossovers'. I've never been into ANY version of the good doctor. I'll check back after the seasons done!

Dr Who will get very dark if they did a crossover with this Dracula. It's pretty brutal.

Loved the first episode. I wasn't sure at first, but I soon got into it and had tons of fun. Fantastic. Love sister Agatha! This first is an episode I will rewatch and keep, it can stand on its own as a very enjoyable film.

Can't wait to watch the second episode.

I thought the same thing. Probably what I will do.

Episode 3 takes a very unexpected turn (introduced at the end of Episode 2). Very clever-clever writing, which did annoy me a little at times but in the end I accepted it.
A wonderful little tribute to a famous Cushing/Lee scene in there and a great ending.

So is Netflix dribbling this show out in 3 episode batches or is the current number of 3 episodes all that's so far been produced and Netflix is waiting on numbers and feedback to go forward with more episodes?
