Will this mess up the speaker's sound if I do this? I bought a cheap pair of speakers on Amazon. They are the Neumi BS5 and go for $100 a pair. I intend to use them as Atmos and hang them from the ceiling aiming down. However all the safer clamps I see seem to require you to drill into the speakers. Is there no other way? I saw some mounts that are meant for wall mounting. Will those work if I mount them upside down on the ceiling and not on the wall? The speaker's aren't heavy, maybe 5-7 lbs at most.

Just put some sort of sealant around where the holes are. Wood glue should work.

    Which bracket?

The enclosure is 15 mm think.
    Use 1/2" screws. (12.7 mm) #5 or #6
Put some glue on the brackets when you screw them down. It'll be stronger than the screws.
Predrill using the bracket as a template.

    the speaker weighs 15 lb
Each screw will hold 20 lbs, use 2 minimum

Thanks, I think both speakers are the 15lbs though.

    You're right, 7.1 lb each
    2 x #6 x 1/2" each speaker will be plenty
    Predrill, 1/8"
    Do not over tighten
    Contact/seated plus 1/2 turn

Hmmm is there a link you can provide for what kind of brackets I will need or hangers?

    I would do this
    Lowes, Home Depot
Threaded inserts, 2/speaker, 1 may do it
1 will do it if the size in the link
    Much stronger
    Get 10 or 15 mm
    get bolts to match

    this bracket looks nice
    Make sure you hit studs

Got it, thanks. So where should I drill the hole in? Near the top or right in the middle? I am only going to use 1 anchor per speaker.

Just center the bracket on the back above the connections. Wherever the hole falls, put it there.

Make sure the predrill hole is the correct size. Put some adhesive on the insert when you scree it in.
Put a lock washer on the screw

I bolted a pair of PSB Alpha B1 to stands. I would do it again!

I did the same thing with some PSB Alphas over 25 years ago (when there was one model of Alpha, I see they have a few models of various sizes now) with mounts similar to the JOY Worker mounts shown above. Worked well.

You’re fine drilling into those speakers.

Something more expensive I’d be leery or if resale value was a concern.
