I am curious at what timestamps the dropouts occur on the Japan-for-US RCA CD of David Bowie's 'Hunky Dory'. I have read on this forum that there are dropouts during "Changes" and "Pretty Things" on this CD pressing. Any info or opinions on this matter are appreciated!

The problem with the US master tape of Hunky dory is tape oxide shedding.Listen to the first verse and notice the cymbal crash at the begining then the strings. It sounds like a chewed up cassette. It progressively improves throughout side one but this tape is in a sorry state. Why they chose to use this for the recent release amazes me.This damaged tape made it's first appearence on late '70's (US?) vinyl issues.I'd guess it was damaged or started to deteriorate when being used to compile Changesone. The RCA WG CD uses a diiferent source as does the Ryko,AU20 and the EMI/Virgin(which is an edited clone of the Ryko)
