Duran Duran's Signature Song

Prior polls went well, so let's do another!

If you had to pick one Duran Duran song as their "signature", what would it be?

To clarify, "signature song" means the song most closely identified with the artist.

It's not your personal favorite or what you view as their best song.

Feel free to discuss your rationale as well as "runner up" choices or other thoughts.

Also feel free to mention any songs you think I left out of the poll that should've been included!

I went with anything that made it top 20 in the US...

 

I have to go with their most famous, Hungry Like The Wolf. Though Rio is right up there because it identifies their most famous album.

 

I think Girls On Film would rank fairly high too. Much higher than some that made the list, like Something, Monday and Love.

 

“Rio” was my choice, though they have songs that I much prefer. Wonder if we'll see a noticable Atlantic divide on this poll.

Hard to argue against Hungry Like The Wolf being their signature song.

Hungry Like the Wolf.

The song, along with the video, is Duran Duran's most iconic w/o a doubt. Not my favorite, but it's their "signature song" IMO.

 

Remember: this is not about their *best* song. So it can only be one of two (for those of us in the U.S.): "Hungry Like the Wolf" or "Rio." And I'm going with the former.

U.K. listeners may have a different take (not influenced by American MTV).

 

'Hungry' - video was hammered on MTV and will forever, therefore, be their signature song I think. Not that's it's necessarily their best...

 

For Germany, I'd say Wild Boys or maybe The Reflex.

My favourite though is Rio.

Probably Rio, but it certainly is not my favourite Duran song.

At one point it became The Reflex, as it was a really hot # 1 and video.
But over the years Hungry Like The Wolf became the radio dominant one and rightfully so.
It's really their best song of the hits.

 

I think "Hungry Like The Wolf" is more immediate and well-known at this point, but I think "Rio" better encapsulates their early sound and vibe.

"View To A Kill" is still my personal favorite DD song though.

 

For me, The Reflex. There are other cuts, especially between 1981-82, I like better, but whenever I hear/read Duran Duran, I hear 'fle-fle-fle-fle-flex!' in my head.

 

Might be different in the US, but I feel Ordinary World's stature keeps growing...
It's the one that's been covered in house music styles, and sung by opera stars, dream folk luminaries and X factor contestants.
It's the one that made people go, "I don't like Duran Duran, but that's a brilliant song".
