There are tons of Jerry Lewis films I'd love to see on Blu-Ray- the laserdiscs had some amazing extras
    The Bellboy
    The Errand Boy
    The Patsy
    Hollywood or Bust
    Artists and Models

I'd love to see these Frank Tashlin films on blu-ray
    Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter
    The Girl Can't Help It

The 2005 Special Edition was endorsed by Peckinpah's family and by
the cast and crew of the film. It reinstates the footage MGM cut from
the theatrical release against Peckinpah's wishes. That footage is not
in the preview version, which was left unfinished. It maintains Sam
Peckinpah's final edits of the key scenes in the theatrical version as
well. There are a couple of things I miss from the preview version, but
the 2005 special edition is where it's at.

Boutique labels have been asking Warner Brothers for the film, but
they get no response. Some of us have been asking Criterion to strike
new transfers of all three versions for a 3-disc set like Mr. Arkadin
and to enable Paul Seydor to complete and finalize the editing on the
2005 Special Edition. But Warner Home Video resists.

Warner Brothers has to allow it before it can happen.

This subject is complicated a bit when you think about it from the perspective of being able to watch a proper HD or better transfer. For instance:

The Killer by John Woo is easy to buy on BR, but the transfer is just an really poor upscale of an SD transfer with PAL artifacts, whereas Fincher's Panic Room is available to stream from a proper HD master on Netflix and purchase on Prime and iTunes, but never got a physical BR. Of course a properly encoded BR is a hell of a lot better than an average HD stream, but I'd take that over 480p source any day.

I hardly ever shell out for a DVD in the 4K era, but I will if it falls into the rare category of having no HD digital copy, or no BR, upscale or otherwise. One recent DVD I bought was for the Korean film Save the Green Planet. A lot of Hou Hsiao-hsien's notable work like City of Sadness, or Millennium Mambo falls into this category too, with most of the DVDs OOP as well.

Thanks for the info. I found the non U.S. format disc on Amazon. Will have to wait for another release as the Twilight Time one is a bit pricey.

Regarding Emperor of the North --

-- keep a watch for it on ebay. It turns up at a low price occasionally.
I've bought some out-of-print Twilight Time titles on ebay but I have
    to search for them regularly.

There are too many movies not even available on DVD for me to bother worrying about what's been released on Blu-ray.

The thread is specifically about films that have been released on DVD but not Blu-ray... not films that remain totally unreleased on either format.

I'm more concerned with obtaining movies I don't own at all than upgrading my DVDs to Blu-rays.

Of the 31 films that Elvis Presley starred in, the following 20 still haven't made the transition to Blu Ray (that I'm aware of):

    Blue Hawaii
    Charro
    Double Trouble
    Easy Come Easy Go*
    Fun In Acapulco
    GI Blues*
    Girl Happy*
    Girls Girls Girls
    Harum Scarum
It Happened At The World's Fair*
    King Creole*
    Kissin' Cousins*
Live A Little Love A Little*
    Loving You
    Paradise Hawaiian Style*
    Roustabout*
    Speedway*
    Spinout
    Stay Away Joe*
    The Trouble With Girls*

The films with an asterisk (*) are available in HD on select streaming services when I last checked.

  21. The Hermit

The Hermit Wavin' that magick glowstick since 1976

    The original Hawaii Five-O.

It was beautifully remastered for the individual DVD season releases a decade and more ago, but a brand new 1080p HD remastering from the original camera negatives (it was both shot and finished on 35mm film) would be not only most welcome but a day-one purchase from your's truly... so long as it's in the OAR of 4:3 and original mono soundtrack mix.

I'm watching Alfie at present. I can't believe that this movie isn't out on bluray. It was a massive hit when released in the 60s.
Some Bob hope classics aren't even out on dvd.
It doesn't make sense for movies like the Princess and pirate not to be out on bluray.
As I've said before, many classic movies aren't out in blu ray because criterion have optioned them just to stop other companies from bringing them out. Sadly, criterion have no intention of bringing these films out on bluray

Updating my own post above, King Creole is now scheduled for a Blu Ray release on April 21. It's arguably the best Elvis movie not yet on Blu Ray.
