Purchased a copy which arrived recently. It’s the EU one. No non fill as far as I understand the phrase (I.e. I don’t have any scratching/tearing noises). However there is audible surface noise throughout, noticeable in quieter passages. What causes this in a new record? Seems to only be in one channel unless my ears are deceiving me! There are no obvious visible defects as far as I can tell. Have tried cleaning with a spray and cloth to no avail.
I requested a replacement on Friday and it showed up yesterday! Didn't have a chance to spin it last night, but will report back once I do.
**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING REPLACEMENT COPIES** I've been privately informed by the fine folks at Noiseland Industries that their replacement program for defective copies of the RSD "Blood on the Tracks - Test Pressing" album will end on August 1, 2019. So if you have a defective copy that needs to be replaced, **please** submit your request to Noiseland by that date. And while you're at it, let's all thank them not only for stepping up to "make this right", but for being so unfailingly gracious while doing so...! So there's the official "heads-up", everybody! - Kevin
I used the Contact page at: www.noiseland.com ...and got a very courteous reply in short order. - Kevin
I couldn't agree more with this bit - they've been great to deal with. They haven't made me jump through any hoops or made it difficult - they've made it very easy and are doing a great job of trying to fix the situation.
Noiseland has been very generous and communicative. I just wish they had some sort of procedure for unlucky people like me whose replacement copies are no better than the original copies. What’s the point of a replacement program?
Just wanted to provide an update to my post from Monday. I've just received my tracking number from Noiseland to confirm that my replacement is on it's way. Fingers crossed that this copy is a good one.
Noiseland is awesome. Sent my replacement as soon as I contacted them! Thank you to those who posted their info.
Or greatest argument for moving on from dying CD or, at the very least, diversifying your listening media.
Noiseland really helped me out. The copy they sent me was absolutely perfect. Many thanks for posting their info, and for the crew at Noiseland for taking care of this issue.
ClickRepair can actually fix light to moderate non fill. I usually cut those sections into their own wav file and run CR at its higher settings to do that. So it can be tedious work if there's a lot to do. Heavy non fill it can only muffle it but not remove completely.
Haven’t heard from them since my inquiry Friday. I used the contact form on the website. Is that how everyone else is doing it?
Yeah, that's how I contacted them initially. It took a few days for their first reply (in which they confirmed they would replace my copy), and then a couple of weeks for the follow up regarding sending the package. I'd imagine they are pretty busy with this, so the timelines on replies may now be a bit longer.
Confirming that I went down this road with Noiseland and received my replacement today. Thanks forum members.
I think I got your tracking information. I live in Trenton and mine says it was delivered in London today! haha
