Maybe even a SH Forum google sheets doc or something could be cool! That way it could be alphabetized and easily listed, having a "forum submitted database" as you will, until the DR database is back (hopefully)

In this case, I assume "SH" is short for "S.P. Honeybunch."

I thought about this when I saw the news and it is a good idea.

My fear is (and, ironically, here I am bringing it to life) is that, like most threads here, it will be a lot of side discussions when what I’d really like to see is just posts of the numbers to keep this thread clean.

It would be nice if this could just be a thread of the DR info with side discussions deleted by the Gorts... including this one if everyone is in agreement. Or maybe I’m wrong... is there value in having discussions along with the raw data in this case?

That is why I think maybe a Google Sheets doc that people can input their DR numbers and info to may the the best way to go about it, that way you can have the discussions and data here and then just the raw data on the Google Sheets (that would make it easier to search for entries anyways compared to a potentially really long thread on a forum)

Also need to indicate if it is CD or vinyl rip and whether it is lossless or lossy.

I agree. Good intention by the OP, but a thread here just can't really replace the easy of use of the existing DB interface. If it doesn't come back or something similar, the Google Sheets idea is a good one.

Carl Swanson, it'd be a dull forum without you!

Folks, I wonder if hi Rez editions of albums will be included too, or cd editions exclusively? I agree that vinyl rips should be excluded though. That was the only thing that bothered me about the original DR database. A minor annoyance, mind you.

Just a quick question, how should we handle box sets with numerous discs? Go by individual discs or just the whole thing all together?

With the suspension of the DR Database, and as we already have an existing thread listing Dynanic Range values that was started by yours truly, I thought it best to merge a new thread starting at post #50 with the existing one I started three years ago.

I'll sticky the thread for a few days to make it more visible but please keep those DR values coming whilst remembering to list the following information........

    Artist Name - Album Name

    Record Label

    UPC/EAN Code

    Year of Release

    Disc number (Where applicable)

Average DR - Minimum DR - Maximum DR

    The DR Log file

The inclusion of the above information should make it straightforward when searching to see if a particular, album or artist is included within the thread.

    One more point.......

Please do not get into arguments over the merits of DR values, the sole purpose of this thread is as a reference point for those interested in knowing the Dynamic Range values of any given album.

I wonder if it might be possible to setup some kind of collaboration between the steve hoffman forum and dr.loudness-war.info?

So the initial username/password would be handled by the forum and then (perhaps after some minimum amount of time/posts/donation) that would allow logging into dr.loudness-war.info
Any misbehaviour on the dr.loudness-war.info account would result in the forum account also being banned.

Only problem I see with this thread, its a thread not a database, in other words you cannot do a search for a specific artist, album etc..., even if you use the search engine of this forum, you will end with all sort of unreleated information in the search result. So in the end as it will grow (if it does?) you will have to access this sequentially to find the info you want.
