I recently bought a minty Philips CD-100 and with it came this case with a cd sampler, a manual, a schematic and brochures. Among the stuff was a catalogue of CD's from various labels, and I thought that some might be interested in that. I haven't got a scanner but i took photos of the pages. They're not perfect - I know! Give me a shout if you are interested.

Here are two of the pics

    Thanks.

I bought a CD100 in around 1986, for 400 Euro (a huge discount compared to the 1000 Euro list price in 1983), but the demo CD had been removed from the box. The player still works, but is far from mint, and I still have the box and the manual.

It sounds great to my ears, but it needs a recap.

I can't embed the images properly, but I hope the link works.

I notice they chose to feature The Who's "It's Hard" as a showcase CD. YES!!

I always wondered why Elton was numbered that way but the picture makes it clear to me now. "Jump Up!" was current at the time and then they went back a couple of years to catch up for "21 At 33" and "The Fox".

Nice pics! Takes me back in time, though I never owned a player like that.

The only thing that surprises me is the picture of the CD's, esp. the lowest 3 - SNF, Bee Gees Greatest and Just one night. Weren't these supposed to come in fatboy cases at the time? That's the only way I've seen them during the 80's, at least in the EU. Or were these early doubles released in two single, separate jewel cases in the US? I know of other instances where this happened, i.e. Stevie Wonder's Original Musiquarium and the Supertramp Live 2CD sets.

I noticed that too. But I guess they just put the front insert in a regular case because it looked better on the photo.

Maybe they just put the booklet in a regular CD case for the photo.

Some double albums were reissued in the 80's on a single CD with some tracks missing, then later released as complete 2CD sets, but I don't know if it was the case of these albums.

Those are rare discs. I have the first one, but not the second one.

There is a second volume of The Pure Perfect Sound of Philips Compact Disc. The catalog number is 812 187-2.
