    Hi!

Last week, I came across a vinyl copy of Electric Flag's "A Long Time Comin'" (CS 9597) in a German record shop, a US Pressing from the early Seventies, but designed for export to Europe with the Columbia Logos covered by a tape ring on the label and with CBS stickers and black text marker to cover all hints to "Columbia" on the cover. The matrix nos. are XSM135248-1D and XSM135249-1D (stamped) respectively. But although the matrix nos. clearly indicate a stereo pressing and - what I've read here on the forum - there has never been a regular mono version in the US, only the second side actually is stereo, but the first side is completely mono.

What do you make of this? Did anybody at Columbia accidently hit the "mono" button during the mastering process? According to discogs, re-issues with this matrix nos. (-1D) are quite common, so anybody must have noticed before?

    Best regards
    Malle
