    Haven't listened to anything past Blue Moves, so from Empty Sky to Blue Moves, and imo;

Best: Captain Fantastic (my personal favorite)
Worst: Caribou (overblown pompous mediocre songwriting, I love Pinky and Ticking, not much else)
Overrated: GBYBR (only because it is probably his highest rated and most popular, and to me it doesn't measure up to how highly it's rated, but still really good of course)
Underrated: Blue Moves (certainly a grower album but it's probably one of his finest and most accomplished pieces of work. It's his most mature album from this period)

    So many Elton threads lately.:)

Best - GYBR. For sheer scope. Runners up - Captain Fantastic, Made In England, Honky Chateau, Sleeping With The Past.

Worst - Empty Sky. Could never get into it. It’s like it’s by an entirely different artist. Runners up - Victim Of Love and Leather Jackets. Though I perversely enjoy parts of both.

Overrated- The Union. Far too long. Horrible production. Leon sounding like he’s unlikely to make it to the end of whatever song he’s singing. No thanks. Runner up - Songs From The West Coast. Don’t get me wrong, it’s really good. I just don’t think it’s head and shoulders above everything else.

Underrated - Caribou. Poorly received in 1974. It’s a surprisingly good listen all these years later. Also, everybody (Elton & Bernie included) seems to hate The Big Picture, but I’ve always rather enjoyed it. Other runners up - Rock Of The Westies, 21 At 33, Jump Up!, A Single Man.

Love Elton, longtime lurker but wanted to start participating more!

Best: Captain Fantastic or Tumbleweed Connection (my favorites)

Worst: Victim of Love by a long shot

Overrated: Too Low for Zero. Love the hits and a couple other songs but there are some really weak songs there too (“Religion” comes to mind)

Underrated: Breaking Hearts. Mostly in comparison with Too Low for Zero. Yes there is filler but some great songs too. The last album with the original band—

    Worst--Victim of Love
Overrated--anything highly rated from the '90's and '00's
    Underrated-Don't Shoot Me.

I don't see the love for Blue Moves lately. It was always an overwrought, unfocused mess.

    This is tough....

I signed off when he released Caribou, so I will call it 'worst.' I tried Captain Fantastic and then moved away, so no comment on his subsequent albums.

GYBR is 'most overrated' because it is so great. A little too prog, but great.

Otherwise, best would be 'Tumbleweed Connection and underrated would be '11-17-70' as I prefer to call it.

    Thanks for posting my list!

My second underrated is his first live album. The one with the date that I’m not looking up.

Best - Don’t Shoot Me (GYBR’s forgotten but super talented older brother)
Worst - Victim of Love (not good AT ALL)
Overrated - Tumbleweed (but it is still really good)
Underrated - Made In England (I think this would have been a much bigger hit if the title track had been the first single)
