Hi. New to this forum, and I have what is probably a dumb question. I recently purchased a used CD copy of Elton John’s Greatest Hits (1974 - the Polydor version). Upon playing it, there are different songs on it than what’s labeled. It appears to be his Greatest Hits Vol 2 album instead (the Polydor 1992 issue). All the songs from that album, in correct order. The face of the CD has the 1974 face that I’ve seen elsewhere (Polydor - 314 512 532-2) with the list of songs expected (Your song, Daniel, Honky Cat, etc...).

Got me wondering, is it possible someone could have recorded over the original? Can that even be done with these CDs? (I didn’t think they were re-writeable). Or could this be some kind of production error?

I’ve done quite a bit of googling and can’t come up with any known issues.

Anyway, just has me very confused!

    Thanks!

c-eling They're made of light,We never would have guessed

Apparently there was a mix up during it's 90's manufacturing, neat.
    Is it a club?

Rewritable - no. Likely a production error. It happens.

The case and inserts are BMG labeled, but the CD does not have any BMG notation on it anywhere, so may not be original pair.
    Thanks for the feedback!!
