Amazon links are dead. Not that I need this, unless it really digs deep B-side etc-wise. Rare Masters still rules.

If that collects TRUE rarities it could be be very intriguing.

I had no idea there still was an EMI. I assume it's a Universal imprint?

Damn! I just looked at the disc titles - this looks like possibly “Dick James Demos”, early cover versions, and b-sides not previously issued on cd! [discs 3-7]

    :goodie:

    Hopefully reasonably priced!

Well, if you read the disc labels:

    Disc 1 - Deep Cuts
    Disc 2 - Deep Cuts
    Disc 3 - Rarities: 1965-1968
    Disc 4 - Rarities: 1968
    Disc 5 - Rarities: 1968 - 1971
    Disc 6 - B Sides: 1976-1984
    Disc 7 - B Sides 1984-2???
Disc 8 - And This Is Me

And this time the label is EMI

Weird. No rarities after 1971. I guess Rare Masters covers the missing b sides.

This is me will finally get all the unreleased demos from the early years? Possibly even from the actual masters? And running at a non wobbly speed?

The ultimate exploration into Elton John’s extensive back catalogue, ‘Jewel Box’ encompasses a selection of deep cuts chosen by Elton himself; rarities from the earliest stage of his and Bernie Taupin’s musical journey; B-sides spanning 30 years, and songs discussed in Elton’s best-selling, critically acclaimed 2019 memoir,‘Me’. The eight discs come in a beautiful hardcover book, enclosed in an outer slipcase. Each section contains extensive notes and, for ‘Deep Cuts’, there is track-by-track commentary by Elton. The set contains an unprecedented number of previously unheard, unreleased tracks from 1967 - 1969, the years that cemented the foundations of the iconic John-Taupin partnership: ‘Jewel Box’ truly is a treasure trove for Elton John fans.

Would rather have some live, well done/remastered, etc..... BBC recordings. Though, since I am a huge Elton fan, I still might wait for reviews.

This is cool, good sign Elton might release more material in the vaults, plently of great live recordings still waiting for an official release, like Tokyo 1971.
Crazy that such a massive artist has one of the most underserved back catalogues, besides best-of compilations.

Dream come true for me! I was actually going to post yesterday that there was a big Elton announcement coming today, but didn't get a chance. It's even better than I expected. :righton:

This is a big deal. Elton never does sets like this. Rare Masters came out 28 years ago! He's not one to look back, so it's pretty cool he did commentary on the tracks.
I think part of it is (1) these sets are a great way to create revenue, and (2) Elton has been in a 'looking back' state of mind lately with the film of his life, and his memoir.

In a way, this is like To Be Continued part 2.

I am floored by this. The tracklist is amazing. Maybe I would have chosen some different deep cuts but holy crap! It's as if Elton and his management finally got the message we fans have been screaming for years. There are official releases of B-sides that have never seen the light day on CD like Take Me Down To The Ocean, Hey Papa Legba, Tortured, Where Have All The Good Times Gone (alternate mix), Can't Get Over Getting Over Losing You and others. I'm stunned. This gives me hope that there could be a live box in our future as well.

Sing Me No Sad Songs and Snow Queen are both on Spotify.

Fantastic news and, as many of us have said in the past, long overdue. Well done Reg!!
Some BSides missing such as “I cry at night “but great to have the rest.

Agreed. I’m excited for this. A few bits missing on first glance, couple of early 90s b sides perhaps and a missed opportunity to finally give Across the River Thanes a physical release but this is more than I ever thought possible.

really wish there had been some unreleased tracks from the 80s though. We know that some exist.
