The first time I heard it I though she sounded a bit like ONJ on this one.

Catchy song but way overplayed on oldies stations

After hearing it many times, you start to notice things like how the drums always sounded a bit rushed, giving the feeling like the song has been sped up or something, especially toward the end.

Still it’s a harmless catchy 70s pop song that is very of its time especially with that video

I had the Elton ref where he is singing both parts with the same backing. Kiki did it better.

Not sure why there is a poll on if you like the song or not. Weird stuff..

Nice piece of bubblegum pop. Are we getting a poll about each individual hit from the '70s?

Totally brilliant, reminds me of my childhood. I would have been 10 years old a the time.

Well...it is the perfect pop song. Why not celebrate it?

This thread isn't celebrating it, it's dividing up the forum members who like it and who don't like it. Totally pointless. Not a celebration but more of a "weeding out".. Not SH Forums Friendly, that's for sure.

When your 8 years old riding in the back seat of a 74 VW bug and DGBMH comes on the AM radio- you yell to your parents in the front,
    “Turn it up!!!”

A bit lightweight. Both of them had better songs.

Good heavens!!!! This chart is like old times. My family was driving to vacation and I remember hearing that entire top 20 on the way and a smattering of the rest. Yes summer 76 and moonlight felt right. My dad got mad when I want along with Shake Your Booty though so that one I had to leave go!

It's an amiable bit of fluff. It's also the karaoke party-piece for myself and my gay friend James. He sings the Kiki Dee part in falsetto, whilst I recite the Elton John lines completely deadpan, à la William Shatner.
