OK, I bought them from eBay (the link I posted), and they are 145.5 mm wide. Elton's covers fit perfectly and everything else should:
Lots of varying thicknesses , but for me the most important aspect is making sure the glue-strip is on the body and not the flap. If the glue-strip is on the flap, that's a potential disaster.
I never attempt to open the flap. I just gently slice open the opening so I can pull out the sleeve and disc easily.
I could be wrong, but thought this was the thread that also provided Outer Sleeve Recommendations for MoFi SACDs with Larger Jacket Covers, but I looked back 8 pages and could not find any posts on it. Do you recall if it(Sleeves for Larger MoFi Jacket Covers) was discussed in this thread?
It might have been a different thread… but you don’t have to look for it because MoFi minis fit into these Japanese outer sleeves perfectly. Add to this the best glue quality and you will get a winner: Janis in Japanese sleeves looks good. I only regret that I bought only 20 of them.
Thank You, Do you have a link to a Seller for these Outer Sleeves? I will try to figure out the other Thread I was looking at last month where a few sleeve Options and Buyer Links on Ebay were posted. Maybe it was the Dire Straits Thread with the New MoFi SACD Releases.
No, I would rather them all have bonus tracks as tastefully mastered as the main albums. Of course, I would alternately and happily buy a separate release of single-only and rare tracks. I love uniformity, so having ALL Elton material released up to Blue Moves (and even unreleased as bonus tracks on prior releases) in stunning quality is the top of my list for Elton (and any artist in a similar position). Don't wanna hear the bonus tracks? Hit STOP on your remote. Easy. Win-win.
I know this always gets said, but...you can always hit the stop button at any time. I'd rather have the non-album tracks filed with the sessions they're taken from, to give them context.
The link was in the post 3202 of this page, but I'll copy it here: 20 pieces Resealable Outer Replacement Plastic Sleeves for MINI LP CDs | eBay $3 for 20 pieces w/$3 shipping, but he has the package of 100, even cheaper for $10 and $7 shipping. As I said, Disk Union sells them only in bulk, at 1000 pieces per box. DU dealers on eBay are just the way for us all to buy them. And the guy, I posted the link to, is the best of DU dealers in this regard - the specialist in this field. Resealable Outer Replacement Plastic Sleeves for MINI LP CDs 100 pieces | eBay
Out of all the various remasters I have listened to from different artists, these new Elton John cds are my favorites. (Maybe the same can be done with the next inevitable Led Zeppelin reissues)
Weird. Sorry about that. Try post #2800. Basically, these were not transferred to DSD in the first place, so making SACDs would require running the masters again (if they were going to me "expected audiophile standards"). I don't think they're going to do that.
I plan to check out several of them over the next couple months. Hoping I find them as impressive as some of the impressions here!
I have compared the SHM CD of Captain Fantastic to my other two versions (West German DJM CD and original MCA CD) quite a bit, before I got to the final (and in my opinion best) two tracks on the album, I preferred what I heard on the SHM CD: Warm and dynamic with the right balance between clarity and bass. However, the MCA CD was very close. But then I found two things a bit curious: (1) On the SHM CD, We All Fall In Love Sometimes starts at a very low volume and contains a fade up from around 1:32 to 1:40. On the DJM CD the fade up is much smaller, and on the MCA CD it is completely absent. When you normalize all three sources so that they end up at the same volume, the SHM CD is very quiet in comparison to the MCA CD, and the DJM DC is about in the middle of the other two. Which one is "correct"? (2) On the SHM CD, the vocals on curtains during the first 15 seconds sound instable, as if the frequency balance between the left and right channel fluctuates and the perceived position in the stereo spectrum moves. This weird effect is not present on either the DJM or the MCA CD. Overall, you won't surprised if I tell you that I like the eq on the SHM CD most, followed by the MCA and at last the DJM, but the above effects make me wonder if the SHM CD is sourced from a different (inferior?) tape.
After how beautiful I found the first four that I bought, I buckled and bought GYBR, CF&TBDC, MMATW and HC. Wow, these are some of the most exquisite reissues I have ever owned by any artist. I now only have DSMIOTPP and TC to buy and I will have them all. I have kept the other versions I have as they have some decent bonus tracks but, really, once you have these, all others pale a bit in comparison.
Really stinks how this remastering never have downloads available. I would've snatched these in a hot minute.
Not to be mean to you or anything, I understand your opinion, but I must say that I am happy that this mastering of these classics is only available on physical media and only in Japan. Sometimes you feel extra rewarded for your effort when you have to go the extra mile to get it. When everything is at hand at your fingertips, one click away, it can feel a little beige to me. All IMHO of course
Looking to get into Elton John, the only disc I have is the DCC greatest hits. I know it's a high bar, but how do these remasters compare?
