The only three I have I could only get an exact match on with the US manufacture's were Brick Road, Madman and S/T. Probably level shifts on the rest. Greatest Hits Japan DIDX is completely different than the US Polydor. But is probably the same for MCA US.
Thought that was weird as well. I think most if not all of my Japan JVC's for US share matches (with other bands) with my US JVC's (for MCA) at least
I’m still pleased with my Mofi Tumbleweed, Honkey, Madman and Goodbye. I’d be curious as to how those so7nd if I’m even considering replacing these.
Thanks. I have Tumbleweed and the Audio Fidelity ROTW. Be interesting what folk think of this new ROTW.
So I have been doing some completely unscientific subjective comparisons of the new SHMs of GH and GH2 with the DCC GH, AF/ROTW ( for Island Girl and Grow Some Funk...) and the TBC box. Listening from my iPhone X over my car sound system I find in all cases the tracks from the GH/GH2 SHMs to be more harsh then the others. You can definitely hear a big difference on Crocodile Rock/Daniel on SHM vs DCC ( I have the alternate take for Daniel on my DCC) . The DCC has a much fuller and softer sound to my ears with more definition. No harshness at all. I wonder if the SHM tracks on the GH for Don't Shoot Me are representative of what the SHM album itself sounds like. The only one that has little difference to me is Rocket Man SHM vs DCC. The Bitch is Back and DLTSGDOM are close but I still feel that the DCC GH is better.
Here we go - I received several of these (the rest coming next week). Is the GYBR version the same mastering/flat transfer as the SHM a few years ago or brand new? I couldn't find that info at first glance here although my eyes do fail me sometimes lol I wasn't sure if it was a new issuing of that one or a completely different thing If it is new, I would be curious as to how it compares with the MFSL and 2010 SHM mastering
I'm sorry, but I have nothing to compare it to but the US vanilla version I purchased about 15 years ago. I think it sound great but haven't compared to the one I already have. Again, the packaging is great.
Here's Honky Chateau: DR12 -2.48 dB -16.94 dB 5:13 01-Honky Cat DR13 -2.90 dB -18.06 dB 5:33 02-Mellow DR13 -2.09 dB -17.52 dB 3:35 03-I Think I'm Going To Kill Myself DR13 -2.98 dB -17.96 dB 3:23 04-Susie (Dramas) DR14 -1.37 dB -19.00 dB 4:44 05-Rocket Man (I Think It's Going To Be A Long, Long Time) DR12 -1.12 dB -17.15 dB 3:59 06-Salvation DR15 -2.03 dB -19.93 dB 4:22 07-Slave DR12 -0.20 dB -15.21 dB 4:03 08-Amy DR13 -6.45 dB -22.20 dB 5:01 09-Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters DR12 -1.15 dB -16.49 dB 5:23 10-Hercules Another awesome artwork reproduction with the textured gatefold.
This series consists of all new transfers from 2018. The mastering of GYBR is therefore different from the earlier SHM-SACDs.

For those that have bought a few of these new releases, how is the sound from one title to another? If you were to take one track from the Elton John album and play along with something from Blue Moves is it a jarring difference in volume etc? Just curious if they made the to all sound around the same level or they stuck with what the original releases sounded like. I have the DCC Hits CD but thinking about getting a few of the other titles. I really like my Polydor CD's though. Thanks!
Those DR numbers are an absolute joy to see along with people's positive reports on the sq.... Quick! My credit card's trying to escape!
Alright, now this is a bit confusing -- According to the entry on Discogs, the 2019 version (which has the correct picture) is the UK version. Same for CDJapan. The above song listing doesn't jive. The tracks "Tiny Dancer" and "Levon" are on the US version ( replaced with "Sorry Seems To Be …" and "Bennie And The Jets" on the UK version ). Or vice-versa. So ….. what's the deal, here?
DBPoweramp misprint (and I didn't catch it). Here's the corrected version: DR13 -2.19 dB -17.91 dB 3:38 01-The Bitch Is Back DR14 -0.75 dB -18.23 dB 5:56 02-Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds DR13 -3.05 dB -20.47 dB 3:46 03-Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word DR15 -1.16 dB -18.02 dB 4:23 04-Don't Go Breaking My Heart DR15 -1.99 dB -20.33 dB 6:49 05-Someone Saved My Life Tonight DR15 -0.27 dB -17.73 dB 5:23 06-Philadelphia Freedom DR14 -1.60 dB -17.45 dB 3:43 07-Island Girl DR13 -1.43 dB -17.26 dB 4:18 08-Grow Some Funk Of Your Own DR14 -1.92 dB -18.55 dB 5:13 09-Bennie And The Jets DR12 -2.31 dB -16.57 dB 5:12 10-Pinball Wizard Sorry for the confusion If you're an EJ fan I would jump on these before they're gone!
