Last night me and my partner were relaxing with some tunes playing in the background, which turned into a ‘what’s your top 3’ discussion when certain artists came on.

It kicked off with Elton John, which was incredibly difficult, given the amount of great songs he's written over the years. But what was so surprising to me - considering there were no deep cuts - was that we each had a pick that the other either hadn’t heard before, or was very unfamiliar.

    My picks were:
    Border Song
Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word
    Song For Guy

    Hers were:
Something About The Way You Look Tonight
I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues
Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me

I was amazed when she said she didn't recognise the title of Border Song, and even more amazed when I played it and she hadn’t actually heard it (we are both in our mid 50s). Her pick of SATWYLT was vaguely familiar to me from the title, and I kinda recognised the chorus, but that was it.

Anyway, it was a nice little ‘game’ to play, and I thought I’d share it here.

I never got into Border Song. It just didn't fit the US Greatest Hits.
I consider I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues the last Elton John classic. Still a lot of great songs after that.
I have never heard Song For Guy.

Nice choices both of you. I love Border Song. I'll go with:
    Tiny Dancer
    Levon
    Someone Saved My Life Tonight

It's really hard to narrow it down to three. So many great songs to choose from.

Very difficult exercise, and could easily be three different songs tomorrow or later today!
