"Harmony" takes everything awful, redeems it, and transforms it into something...harmonious

Actually, I should’ve put rocket man instead of goodbye yellow brick road. This is a tough question!

I grew up with 'em. Don't care for 'em one bit. Pretty hard for me to find any EJ I really like.

Very difficult to do, but I am going to try:

We All Fall In Love Sometimes/Curtains*
    Believe
Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding*

*Yes, I am kind of cheating, but these songs need to be heard together for full effect.

Not at all. On my first post on this thread, I did list my three favorite EJ songs and said nothing else.

There was then a response to my post that suggested I go back and get a run of EJ albums as though I was unfamiliar with them and would like them if I heard them. Although I appreciated the passion and positivity, my response to that suggestion needed to make the point that I was fully familiar with the catalog and and knew quite thoroughly that I wasn't ever going to take a liking beyond the few songs I'd already posted.

    You need thicker skin.

I’d probably have to go with:

    Your Song
    Border Song
    Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

A special mention for Candle in the Wind, which manages the remarkable feat of simultaneously being both one of his best and (thanks to the 1997 remake) one of his worst songs.

Just curious -> what is it that for you makes the 1997 remake to one of his worst songs? The performance? The singing? The arrangement? The lyric? The Diana aspect?

Personally I like it for what it is - the original version was played in salute to Diana and there was a demand for an adapted version, which Elton and Bernie delivered. The stripped down George Martin arrangement is good and fits the purpose well, I must say. Also, all royalty from the sales went to charity.
