    God, what a disappointment.
Such boring presentations of such vibrant music.
When the guy was speaking Border Song, I kept thinking,. "This wont last much longer, will it?"
Makes me more thankful for Elton's songs.
I'll pass on both tribute albums.

Elton deserves this imo. The only one I didn't like was
Sam Smith. He sounded like he was strained and would
get off key, I hated it. Maybe he needs his vocals "comped."
Elton has always been generous and supportive of the younger
players as they come up. He has also helped other players
get their careers back on line. (Leon Russell)
For a while in the early 1970's it seemed like one of his songs
was being played somewhere every 10 seconds

I read somewhere that the producers were warned that Elton might get up and walk out at some point during the taping, he's that uncomfortable hearing his own music. Conversely, on an interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Bernie Taupin said he recently found himself singing along to his own songs for the first time, which is pretty amazing when you think about it-the guy has been disassociating himself from the songs for so long.

I just got around to watching this. I enjoyed it overall. The biggest miss of the night was Gayle King reading Someone Saved My Life Tonight. The other spoken word piece at least was a reasonable lyric to present in that manner.

John Legend and Lady Gaga were the highlights. I also appreciated Miley Cyrus's take on The Bitch Is Back. The right attitude for the song and good vocals.
