Is there a page somewhere that has an absolute, complete listing of all of the FTD titles, in-print and otherwise? I've picked up quite a few of these over the past year or so, but I'd like to be able to keep track of what I have, versus what I still need (or want) to get. The ShopElvis.com page only seems to list the current ones they have in-print. I've seen a few other listings, but they don't seem to be updated very often, and don't have the more recent titles.

Also, where are people picking up Love Letters and Memphis, Tennessee? ShopElvis doesn't even have those listed...

  6. I'm normally not too excited about live FTD releases, but IMO that August 19, 1974 show is a must-have. Getting ELVIS COUNTRY is a no-brainer.

I'll get them both for sure.

I was hoping they would include the original Country album without the "I Was Born About Ten Thousand Years Ago" bit between every song. Oh well...

That will be very welcome, but, boy, the Sun box'n'book seems to have fallen completely off the radar.

Anyone know what the quality of the recordings is likely to be on the Nevada Nights shows?

It's been speculated that BMG is waiting for the EU copyright laws to go into effect protecting the 50's era recordings before they release a product that could be scavenged for illegit releases.

  11. Sounds logical, especially since that exact thing happened with the FTD release of ELVIS PRESLEY. Quicker than you could blink, someone came along and re-released the exact same material (this happened in Europe, where due to the copyright laws, this was presumably legal).

How long before the EU copyright laws go into effect ?

The EU is working on extending copyright protection from 50 to 95 years. The 50 year limit is what enabled such releases as the "Memphis Recording Service vol 1 & vol 2" to borrow tracks from BMG and other sources. I'm not sure when the new regulations go into effect.

Nothing "illegit" about issuing recordings that have fallen out of copyright.

Could be, but I've already seen numerous Elvis public domain collections in the store, including a Proper box and a Rev-Ola Sun recordings collection with outtakes.

True to a certain extent, but think of all of the work that BMG put into searching the vaults and mastering the tracks only to have someone rip them from a CD and make their own release.:shake:

Has the new "Elvis Country" been released? I hope it sounds better than the Japan mini-LP or the original mastering and forget about the remaster with bonus tracks. So far all the CDs I've heard of this title could be improved. It is hard to belive that these songs came from the same sessions as those on the "That's The Way It Is" album. Why can't someone get "Elvis Country" to sound more like the MoFi "TTWII"?

Early indications are that (by deduction) Vic Anesini will have worked on the master takes (ie. album tracks and bonus masters) and (sigh) Lene Reidl will have done the outtakes.

Sorry - when I first read the mastering credits I was not best impressed (Vic aside). Curious that a lacklustre album like 'Raised on Rock' gets the dedicated treatment but arguably Elvis' best 70s studio album appears to be getting thrown together in a similar fashion that 'Love Letters..' and 'Today' were. It is irritating that the 70s material doesn't get the same dedicated respect the 50s and 60s (non soundtrack) material has been privy to.

  20. Hasn't been released yet. I'm really hoping the audio quality on this set is good. And I agree - none of the CD issues I've heard sound all that great and none come close to the audio quality of the first-press US vinyl (this is on the thick RCA vinyl, not the Dynaflex).

Does anyone know who is mastering this CD? Will it receive the same treatment the 2 CD from Vegas received earlier this year? If so, that would be great.

I read somewhere that at least Disc 2 of In Person was mixed and mastered by Vic Anesini.
