Since I still only own one FTD-- "Elvis Is Back," which I do enjoy-- it's fairly easy for me to hold off on additional FTDs at this time until I see what's up with this new box. I do have the two recent 20 Original Albums boxes, but they're far from comprehensive, and I would have no issue selling those off either here or on ebay if this new box is an upgrade in presentation and thoroughness.

Some of the session material from '63/'64 will undoubtably not be part of this set because it was not released until after his death, and according to Roger Semon, some of the "hits" compilations released during Elvis' lifetime will be excluded.

On average the 60s and 70s are a wash, but I would rather have the fantastic songs/performances along with the crappy songs/performances of the 60s over the mostly mediocre songs/performances of the 70s.

I am not sure what material from 63/64 you mean. While it is true the planned album "For The Asking" was not released until after his death, ALL the songs contained within were released as singles or bonus tracks on movie soundtrack albums. I certainly hope the 4 Golden Records series will be included as all but 3 songs were never on other albums.

The only hits compilations done during Elvis' lifetime (other than TV offers) were the 4 Golden Records sets, the two World Wide Gold Award Hits 4 LP sets, and maybe Pure Gold could be considered a hits collection. The 3 Camdens: Sings Songs From His Movies, Burning Love and Separate Ways are mostly redundant, and The Legendary Performer series are anthologies of sorts.

The two WWGAH sets have about 10 songs that are exclusive to LP during his lifetime.

Just what we need, another Elvis box set
Just take the same old stuff that's been in circulation and add a few alternate takes. Included as a bonus, the newly discovered party tape of a drunken Elvis with his army buddies in their barracks in Germany telling Pollock jokes, singing Pat Boone songs with dirty lyrics, and burping the A B C's.

Just re-release a economy model of the 30-CD boxset without the fancy book and packaging and call it a day.

Looks intriguing. It is probably safe to assume Discs 1 - 57 contain the 2007 Anesini remasters. Hopefully there are no errors with the artwork.

I hope the price comes down a bit. $200 and it's a pretty good deal.

The 57 titles have all been released in Hi-rez.

I hope the MASTERS come from the FTD team, not happy with the 2007 unless they fixed certain songs.

That is going to be (if done right) could be the selling point in the fandon/colletors ... and will the unissued SUN song be on the 50's set?.

Good start to 2016 i hope.

Eh...Good way to get most (all?) of the masters but I'm gonna pass unless the price comes down considerably.

Yeah, the price seems high, but nothing to get worked up over.

I will probably pass, as I have almost all the big boxes, and the rest is available on Tidal.

But a great way for somebody to build an instant collection.

I know it's based on releases in his lifetime but Elvis in Concert (Oct 77) was obviously recorded during his life and intented for release at some point in his life and contains some great versions of a lot of songs and the essential single version of My Way

I have the complete masters set and thought I was done....but who's kidding who I'll probably wind up getting this. The idea of owning all the music in the original context with all the album art replicas is enough to push me over the edge.

Oh for heaven's sake! How many times are these things gonna be packaged? Has there been any score-keeping on this front? The Elvis CD sections are pretty swollen as it is in the 2010's, and the Copyright entanglements overseas of pre-1963 music has sent even MORE collections of the early product into the fray at budget prices. And what are used record stores giving & getting now for Presley's catalog? Certainly can't be anywhere near what they were on a certain August day in 1977!

Will the mastering from this new box differ from the mastering from the Complete Masters box? And will the albums in it include bonus tracks and single released tracks, or will they have the exact number and order of songs from the original LPs?

As a Sinatra fan I would like to see such a box set for the Capitol&Reprise albums. As a Elvis fan (especially for his 70s material) I'm quite happy with my Legacy editions, FTDs and Compilations. I don't like the movie soundtracks.

Three or four separate boxes covering decades or distinct recording periods may have been a better way to get those of us in who aren't interested in absolutely everything or can't afford the whole thing,
