Elvis Trivia: Who is Gigi?

I'm shooting for the random post of the month here, but anyway . . . . .

In TTWII, Elvis is talking to the Sweets during one of the rehearsals and goes into a convoluted story about Gigi, how he's back in Memphis due to some weird situation with a stepchild, and how "I sure hated to lose him."

So, who the hell is Gigi? A Memphis Mafioso (Gene Smith, perhaps)?

 

Good question. My brother and I had the same question when we first watched this as kids. If I could remember I would of asked it here... who is Gigi?

 

GG Gambill, his cousin Patty's husband? (If I have my family tree right...)

My favorite part of that scene is when Elvis has to clarify when saying GG had a "baby"; he had to pause, and then say "infant baby" I guess so we knew he wasn't talking about some woman!

 

He did have a very distinctive way of expressing himself.

I looked up Gee Gee (that's how it's spelled) Gambill in Careless Love. He is in fact the husband of E's cousin Patsy. No mention of the "infant baby" issue in the book, but it says that Gee Gee can be seen standing on the steps in a suit during the "unplugged" portions of the comeback special. Gee Gee is the man!
