Too much Nolan on that list which makes it invalid.

Voted by readers and critics. I'm surprised at the placings of some of them. A few films not in the English language, which is good, but sadly not Ida or The Secret in Their Eyes. No documentaries either: Man On Wire and Apollo 11 would make my list. I've seen 80 of the 100.

The social network higher than Kill Bill?

    Bridesmaids? Moonlight? WTF?

    No Scorsese's Silence?

Also, there are several commercial hits but, unless I'm mistaken, not a single Harry Potter film. "Azkaban" deserved to be there. Just as Raimi's Spiderman 2. And X-Men 2

Where are "The Incredibles"? "Life of Pi"? "Atonement"?

"God's own country", "Hunt for wilderpeople", "The raid", "Frances Ha", "A prophet", "In the mood for love", "Dead man's shoes" are the 7 ones I haven't seen from the list.

Empire likes big blockbuster films, it's kind of their deal and that's fine. Not every list needs obscure movies from Iran that no one ever watch.

    I enjoy their podcast.

If we're talking solely about films released from 2000 onwards, then it's The Fellowship of the Ring by a country mile and a light year thrown in for good measure... with Zodiac in second place for sure, and possibly The Dark Knight in third place... but this is all highly subjective, to say the least.

Nice to see Apocalypto get a mention though...

Like most lists of this type, I find myself mostly in disagreement. I'm just glad I don't have to sit through those movies again. I can maybe agree with 10.... maybe.

I'm a huge ROAD WARRIOR fan and I don't get the love for FURY ROAD.

The GUARDIANS movies are the best of the Marvel franchises, but I have to agree with Scorsese here. I'm not sure I'd put them on a best-of list with real movies.

I watched it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and thought it was terrible.

I thought the disappointing BEYOND THUNDERDOME was better. At least that had the interesting Bartertown concept before it went off the rails in the second half, while FURY ROAD was just a loud, monotonous CGI-fest.

I wouldn't say "terrible", but at the same time I can't see what all the fuss was about. It's an okay action film, imo. Mind you, compared to others in the list......

I'm an outlier with Mad Max - by far the best film was the first, imo. After that they just added needless complexity and pomp.

That list shows why I don't go to the cinema very much anymore.

I suppose The Prestige & Zodiac were okay.

Wow. Need to download that - is it the new issue? In my opinion, having seen 96 of these - I can only assume they meant to start with number 10 as the top film. Some of that top ten has dated really badly, some weren’t great to start with. It looks like the top 10 for people hat don’t really like movies all that much, but if they have to go to the cinema, they will.

There are many many better films released than that list would show.

Hunt for wildepeople is drop dead brilliant. Raid is good fun, the others aren’t worth your time.

I am ranting now... last post. Did I see no coen brothers or Wes Anderson? Is this the biggest ‘grossing films’ or ‘the best’.

Nice to see stuff like Logan and Blade Runner 2049 in there. I don’t get the fascination with Fury Road though—it was just a pretty good Road Warrior flick.

Rewatched No Country For Old Men last year, having not seen it since the theater, and was blown away by it all over again. What a masterpiece.
