The debut album from Leeds band English Teacher is out next month. I've been very impressed by everything I've heard from them. Will be seeing them at the end of the month in Newcastle so really looking forward to that. Anyone seen them yet?

Saw them on Jools and was intrigued — liked every song since then, so I’m totally in on the album when it drops

Oh yeah, the belligerent ghouls run Manchester schools, not Leeds

Presumably they're on a double bill with The Editors?

An exciting band, with hints of The Fall and Dry Cleaning. Really looking forward to the album.

They must have some love for Wet Leg as read about an encore they played at Deer Shed festival last year where they did a mash up of Wet Leg songs with the band Sprints.

They're doing a brief, mainly East coast tour in the US, looking forward to the Chicago show:

That album title reminds me of a lyric in that fantastic Clock DVA song, “4 Hours”:

    This could be New York
    This could be London
    I don't care anymore

Saw English Teacher tonight. Very impressed. The guitarist is great to watch (Devo-esque moves) and Lily the frontwoman has star quality. All the band are clearly talented. Picked up the Polyawkward E.P. from 2022 at merch stall in case it becomes unaffordable. If you get the chance to see them, take it. Was way louder than I expected so ears are suffering right now.

First time hearing about this band. I like the songs so far! They kinda remind me of Life Without Buildings. Looking forward to their full length LP.

Thanks for the review. Bodes well for the album. So tempted to see them but the loudness is an issue.

Everything starts with an “E”. So does Earplugs! I’m wearing them as well, I don’t care. I love concerts, I love my hearing.

I need to get some decent ones. I have some cheap ones I tried recently, but I didn't like the experience. Yesterday it was a festival bill with bands on across 2 rooms. So when one finished I went to the other room to watch another. I'd watched 4 bands before English Teacher and when they took it up a notch in places it became painful on the lugs. Also, I was stood in the second row, so I was close to the speakers. In short, it was probably my own stupid fault!

Thanks for starting this thread, which acquainted me with the band. Picked up a ticket to see them in June. Their sound is not uncommon, but the quality of their songs is.

Can anyone make out what the artwork represents? It kind of looks like a sheep digesting a guitar.
