2 all time great shows for me. There is no shortage of reruns constantly available. Both are CBS sitcoms, in which King of Queens was a sister/spinoff series of Everybody Loves Raymond. So much to love in both series for me, and figured I'd start a poll/discussion. Surprising, both shows didn't get terribly bad in the later seasons (as is common to most series), though the mid-series episodes were the funniest. The Deborah and Carrie characters both had sassy attitude, which I loved, playing off the stupidity and laziness of both Ray and Doug. Arthur Spooner was an all-time great supporting character, as were Frank/Marie Barone.

Love them both.....but King of Queens gets the edge for me because of Jerry Stiller.

King of Queens. Kevin James was quite a versatile actor, and Leah Remini kept things grounded. I also liked his wack pack of friends. It had zero kids too, although Raymond basically ignored them (thankfully). But both shows were great.

Two classic sitcoms from the last era where networks ruled... Neither was the best of breed, but they were well cast and the stories were consistently funny. King of Queens gets my vote solely because the Debra Barone character was too often shrill, angry, and just plain not funny. But Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts were as good as supporting characters ever got (as was Jerry Stiller, of course.)

Both Carrie and Debra had the death stares down pretty great. Loved the Leah Remini character and her attitude. Favorite moment is when she wants a promotion at her work, but her boss says the committee won't hire her because of the way she talks. An upset Carrie decides to get diction lessons from Spence, to learn how to speak more lady like. "What's wrong with the I talk... Do I talk so freaking bad?" in her strong Brooklyn accent.

I never tire of watching reruns of both. Caught an episode of King of Queens the other night where Arthur Spooner (Stiller), when asked by Spence if he could take his mother out (played by Stiller's wife Anne Meara), replied "How can I put this nicely.....your mother is not my cup of tea, and I find her hideous and annoying!"

Kevin James and Leah Remini had great chemistry but Jerry Stiller steals every scene he's in and makes the show.

Never liked 'Everybody Likes Raymond ' all that much but I love Patricia Heaton and thought her show ' The Middle ' was a funnier program.

She is my favorite character on Raymond. Huge Patricia Heaton fan as well.

Both programs, including Home Improvement correctly depicts White Men as Man-Childs and wimps. Which is factual I guess, observing the last 30 years or so. Ive always wondered what is the appeal of these shows are.

The doofus dad shows. Kinda racist and sexist, I guess. Contrast with Bernie Mac. Still, one can suspend judgment for 30 minutes here and there.

I cant suspend judgement, that is my personality. I'd rather not watch at all. Full of whining men and "strong" women which I partly mentioned in my previous post as being factual. The reason why "The Simpsons" is still in production, 40-55 year old men still acting like children and watching programs that accommodate them.

Tell me about it. It is why I cannot watch modern day programs. From 1990 onwards, these programs are full of whining White Men acting like children and getting away way it. Everybody loves Raymond has to be one of the worst.

Both are god-awful and painfully unfunny.

I like ‘m both, damn funny and relatable situations in both shows.

KoQ is unapologitic in it’s portrayal of some good unsympathetic behaviour by both Carrie and Doug. I could relate more to the family dynamic of ELR.

Leah’s casting of Carrie in KoQ is both it’s strenght and weakness. Leah is damn funny, but a girl who looks like her would never end up with a guy like Doug. I know it’s tv, but it’s staring you in the face everytime you watch an episode.

ELR has some truly brilliant moments. I've seen King of Queens a few times and never thought much of it. Frasier and ELR are my two favorite "modern day" TV shows.

King of Queens is a show I watched now and then—not a favorite, though occasionally Kevin James’ antics left me in stitches.

Raymond, on the other hand, is one of my top 10 all-time favorite series. It started with a couple of weak seasons, but when Debra became (as some people around here would say) a bitch, the show took off for me.

If I'm looking for 30 minutes of mindless fun, I'll take Doug over Ray -- especially if Arthur is involved.

A couple favorite lines by Debra from ELR:

Debra to Marie: "Yes Marie, I bought Ray a porn machine for Christmas."

Debra to Ray: "Explain to me how you can't fold a shirt. Explain to me how an adult human with thumbs is not able to do that!"

So Spence had two different mothers on TKOQ and Carrie's sister
disappeared very early on.....as did the `Ritchie' character.

  25. Caught occasional episodes of both. Not a fan but Raymond was funnier and King was more like The Honeymooners redux to me.
