My 35DP 4 is Japan for US and the matrix info is 35DP-4 71A11 and no ****. I guess very similar to the one Dave has.

Could very well be just different runs of pressings of the same mastering.

I would so like to get my hands on that one (Japan for Japan).

However, for over $400, I would expect a mint copy with obi.

Bear in mind, things weren`t always like this. Ah...those were the days...

  6. WTF!!! :wtf: :bigeek:

There was one of these sold in the classifieds a couple of weeks ago for $120.

Congrats on your 2 track going for so much, but that's just crazy.

I have the Japan for Japan 35DP-4 disc, and it's the one to have in my opinion. With that gold tint, it's one of the prettiest CD's in my collection.

I have been a regular customer at used CD stores in Tokyo for years, and I can tell you that the 35DP-4 disc is rare, but the obi is practically non-existant. The Black triangle Abbey Road and Dark Side obis will turn up from time to time, but in 10 years, I've seen the Wish You Were Here obi exactly one time.

Interesting - the obi notes that the CD is indexed. I wonder if this was true for all indexed CDs?

My English is going to hell living in Tokyo. I meant that it WILL be hard to miss. It's a beautiful blue obi.

So...how many more copies have appeared on ebay since this one set the new record?

Japan for USA copies have (relatively speaking) been appearing quite a lot lately. I have yet to see the Japan for Japan edition. And as drbryant points out, a copy with obi seems to be out of the question.

That of course doesn`t mean they are not out there - it just means that I am searching in the wrong places. ;)

Fumi, didn't you just win a Japan For Japan 35DP4 a few months ago on Ebay for like 15 bucks?

I picked up a 35DP-4 Japan for Japan about 3 months ago from an ebay stores seller from Germany. It was $100 or so. Stone cold mint but no OBI. They will pop up if you're patient, use sniping, and strike in the dead of night. Sounds nice.

I think there may be a digital glitch right around 14:37 of track 1 where the first "welcome my son" line is ending, if you listen through headphones. I don't think I noticed it through speakers. Unless, of course, it's supposed to be there or I got a bad rip. But I doubt it. I ripped it 3 times with 3 different rippers, all with the same checksum.

    This one does use pre-emphasis.

Fumi won the Japan For USA.

Keith and few of the longer members think that the Japan for USA is actually rarer. However, in my experience I have only ever seen 2 35DP-4 J4J (japan for japan) in 2 years but I have seen at least 20 CK33453 35DP-4(j4USA) so I might disagree with that view.

One of the first CD's I ever bought was a Japan for US CBS WYWH. brand new in the blister pack in 1983. I never even knew that it was a 35DP4. It had to be, since it was made in Japan. Even then I thought it was strange that it "only" had 2 tracks. I think I traded it for another CD I was interested at the time, Like a CBS/Sony Night Ranger "Midnight Madness". Ugh!

Just got the 35DP4 in today's mail. I'm going to compare it to my other versions. We'll see what happens.;)

For awhile, I was seeing the Japan-for-Japan 35DP disc on eBay far more often than the Japan-for-U.S. CK disc. However, I haven't seen the 35DP disc on auction for awhile.

By the way, shortly after I first learned about the two-track version, which was in 2004, a 35DP disc with the OBI strip went for $483 on eBay. I bid high and came in second. Since then, I've gotten it without the OBI strip for far less.

This is it. The one with the mojo. No comparison! This CD blooms like know other issue that I've heard. It's alive.

It doesn't sound like it's from a safety. I'm probably wrong, though. Anyone know who mastered this?

Dave, This is the Japan for USA with only 35DP-4 101A2 +++++ in the matrix, no CK, except on the front of the disc. From what i'm hearing here, I really think they are the same as the Japan for Japan versions. I'm looking for one of those to A/B.
