Those are all dreck, except for Old Ways which is totally amazing. I think you should give that one another try...I'm a huge Neil Young fan and I gotta admit his output is incredibly inconsistent, but Old Ways is definitely one of his best.

Interesting. HUGE LC fan here, and recently took a dive through his whole discography (having already literally grown up on that stuff to the extent that hearing his songs are some of my earliest memories) and I can't say I agree. I did find Popular Problems to be really weak though. Death of a Ladies Man is also a clear contender for worst album, but it's just too damn bizarre to truly dismiss as un-entertaining.

Love most of his stuff but this is a no go area for me.

Oh man, yes. And it's coming from someone who really liked what came before and after. But "Odelay"? What was that praise all about? I never liked this album - and heard it more than once.

MMM was just too commercial. I wish he would have taken a bit more of a gamble and gone a little more experimental on that one...gone for artistic instead of accessible.

It's my favorite album of all time. No, it was not 'instant gratification' at the time and took some time to digest.

I've written before on this forum that I listened to 'Odelay' because of all the praise it gets, but it is the only record that has made me want to rip the disc out of the player and fling it across the room, it irritated me that much. It put me off Beck for ages, though years later I heard 'Morning Phase' in a record store and I bought that and I really like it. They're still the only records of his that I've heard, so it's 15-all, I guess, in tennis parlance. I suppose I should check out some of his other records, but that negative 'Odelay' vibe kicks in over the positivity from 'Morning Phase'.

I'm sure to listen to it again, I have the box set, and I like most of the albums.
Perhaps so many people blew the value of that album up, that it was just a let down for me ... idk

Beck has some collage type albums and some soundscape type albums. I think Morning Phase and Sea Change are probably his most pleasant and popular soundscape type albums, and while I can't admit to be overly fond of his collage type stuff, I did think Guero was pretty good.

Trout's a funny one. I've listened to it all through a couple of times ... and many more times taken it of.
The funny thing is, I now like Frownland quite a bit, because that's the first track lol

A couple of the later Bowie albums I've maybe only listened to once so far, all the albums from Space Oddity to Scary Monsters I've listened to many times though.
