This thread is about famous bands who have twins of the same name that are not well known.

    Let us begin with Genesis.

There was another band with exactly the same name who recorded one album in 1968. Also kind of prog with a 16min longtrack over whole side 2.
Only few guys will remember the " other" Genesis:

    Another band. IRON MAIDEN.
They have a less known twin, another band called IRON MAIDEN, who made psychedelic heavy rock.
Here they are. Great album from 1969.

Now, do you know well known bands who had or have "twins"?

(Names needn't to be exactly same written. )

Gypsy from Minneapolis Minnesota had a UK twin that went by the same name. For awhile the bands were unofficially known as American Gypsy and UK Gypsy.

    American Gypsy....

Same name and a title that could pass for the work of Morrissey, but different band from a different decade:

WINGS was already mentioned by member @kwadguy, but he didn't post any of their music ...

Their great, one off self-titled album on DUNHILL/ABC in 1968. The band was led by Oz Bach who had just left Spanky & The Gang. According to Oz Bach's wife, Paul McCartney actually contacted Oz and asked to pay to use the bands name, even though they had broken up a few years prior to Paul's WINGS.

My personal favorite songs from this album are "Pretty Little Girl" and "Takin' It Lazy", but the entire album is really decent and has touches of The Mamas & The Papas and Spanky & The Gang harmonies.

There was a British heavy metal band called Toad The Wet Sprocket in the Eighties that formed a few years before the alternative rock band of the same name, fronted by Glen Phillips. Look at the obvious difference
