Since we're only allowed one I'd also have to go with - Bat Out of Hell.

Agree (with the latter part of the statement, at least!) If I were to be asked to name a song that somehow sums up being young in London at the time, "Hangin' Around" would be it...

Elvis Presley - Country Club: The Hits of Elvis Presley

This was a very good 16-track collection that compiled some relatively rare tracks at the time (as well as some not-so rare tracks, although still tracks that were not necessarily easy to find in their original form in 1977). It has a good flow, although sometimes the production style changed significantly between tracks.

I'm a bit surprised that you didn't go with Terrapin Station.

What an amazing year. If it was 1977 I'd say Rush, 'Farewell to Kings.' But all these years later the one that's stuck with me the most is Pink Floyd, 'Animals.' Although so many great LPs that I still love...

The Clash's debut. Everything else sounded tame to me for a while after that. 16 and full of raging hormones, it hit spots that 'Rumors' for instance, just couldn't (apart from Stevie Nicks on the cover!).

Lot of great albums that year.

    Mention should be made of:

    Knnillssonn -- Harry Nilsson.

    Mink DeVille (aka Cabretta)--Mink DeVille

Two records that have no real connection to everything else that was going on in the music scene at the time, but were in their own way timeless and brilliant.
